My roommate saw this this morning. He said, "Hey! Google changed their logo! Do you know what that means?"

I replied, "It means we can be sure that today is neither Memorial Day nor Veteran's Day."

One of the other nominees was a 97 year old woman who saved about 2,500 Jewish kids from concentration camps in World War II. Unfortunately, she didn't have a snazzy Power Point demonstration.

Just remember, if you belong to the church of google, you're not allowed to recognize Veteran's Day or Memorial Day in any way. Sure, you can recognize obscure things like Louis Braille's birthday, but don't even speak of Veteran's Day or Memorial Day.

The original A-Team van is owned by a private collector in Las Vegas. It's been kept functional, so you occasionally see it driven around town.

My favorite version of "The Cat Came Back" (familiar to Canadian animation fans, and anyone who watched Nickelodeon in the late '80s):

Back in the 18th and early 19th centuries in Maine, the prison system there had a food problem. They needed a food that was cheap, abundant and preferably one that the prisoners would find digusting.

They did find such a food, and the prisoners did indeed find it repulsive and hard to eat. Prisoners who were able to make deals would usually try and arrange to be served this digusting dish less than 3 times a week.

What is this dish? Maine lobster.
