Read a news brief that Kim Peek died. First thing I thought of was my brother [died: 2005]; An artist at birth, as some say. He could look at anything and draw it to film print quality, however, he could not work, or stay in any social group very long.
A doctor in this century would label it ADD plus something I would call "gifted antisocial paranoid". Most members of my family have some ADD or have "learning problems".

I am ADD + dyslexic; not a good job skill. I just know or know how to ge the right answers. That will work until the social skill fencing starts. Battles won by facts, then war is lost when the other gets out their SocialNuke for a winning political position. Now this problem is tempered by Rx'ing brain into submission so other people don't see it and think, "something different about that guy". {useful in limited cases}

The people in Class=Normal are benefiting from the research people in Class=ExtremeAbnormal go thru. I have been a lab rat and it becomes part of the environment like factory auto service. They get the big shot tech so we can get tweaked by the shop guy, so to speak.

My brother's head injury in car crash had this effect: lost all interest in drawing and in his words, "the lesbian socialist teachers are out to control him/us.". As far as I recall or did I swap nouns? The brain is tricky stuff. RIP mr.peek & karma must be balanced after this life.

* from The Salt Lake Tribune. Peek is survived by his father, his mother, Jeanne W. Buchi, one brother and one sister. A funeral will be Dec. 29. Details are pending.
