"Absorbed by the company" could mean turning some of those profits into wages. And we can't have that! Gods forbid the stockholders should have lower returns on their investments so that others may pay their rent AND buy clothes. That's just un-American.

I am always so amused that the people who inherit the money are always the ones with the disdain for the poor and working class.

How many of the people that voted mandatory tipping as "wrong" have actually worked as servers, I wonder?

Everyone should have to work at least a week in the industry- maybe then they'd tip voluntarily.
