and whoever suggested the AK-47, bad idea, sure they dont jam and the ammo is common, but they have terrible accuracy and they are LOUD AS FUCK.

also a LOBO would be nice, but unfortunately, being that world war Z is a work of fiction, LOBOs do not actually exist.

you ever want tons of zombie survival gear, just find your nearest boy scout camp.

id still rather have a handgun or a melee weapon over a shotgun, they're very effective against humans, not so much against zombies.
they do have temporary stopping power for an escape, but thats about it.

also bows and crossbows should be generally avoided as they require way to much skill for a headshot on a moving target.
also, incendiaries are no good, because they often just create a flaming zombie.
nothing worse than realizing that not only is that zombie still coming, but now he's on fire.

Ok, so obviously most of you haven't read any Max Brooks.
You NEVER want to be close enough for a shotgun to be effective, and even then, you'd be better off with a well sharpened and maintained machete.

as for a primary weapon you would either want a solid bolt action rifle.
or some sort of semi-auto.
you want something with a decent amount of accuracy, and good range, ideally with ammo that is easy to find or create.

also rifles (especially old bolt action) are easier to maintain, to find, and to find ammo for.
they also make you take time with each shot thereby increasing the odds of a headshot.

if you cant get a machete or a rifle, settle for a solid handgun, and either a large hammer or a crowbar.
maces aren't that great as you want something that will penetrate the skull, not just hit it.
penetrating the skull guarantees a kill.

I would absolutely love to have a silver Rogue watch.
