It does seem to make sense that high-strung(unlucky) people would miss out on certain opportunities, which is why they feel unlucky. It does appear on the surface that people who think they are lucky, truly are lucky.
However this study does seem to support the idea that lucky people are able to more clearly see opportunities that are presented to them.

From now on, I am a lucky person.
