Given the location of the bite, I'm guessing that sucking the venom out wasn't an option. The poisoning didn't seem to slow Mohamed down much.

Scooter, The Miniature Schnauzer, Full name: ScooterDooterRooterTooterPooter. An aristocrat who has fallen on hard times, he somehow makes do with a small full-time staff of two old, but loyal adult humans. Although he can pay them little beyond kisses and tail-wagging approval for their efforts on his behalf, the rest of his small pension goes to his grooming to keep up appearances, treats, and the occasional doggie daycare date.

We have a worm box in the basement, where we feed the worms fruit and veggie peelings, leaves gathered from last fall, and paper from the shredder. In the spring, we have a couple of 5-gallon buckets of worm castings, with the rich color and density of chocolate cake. Our garden and flowers fried in the heat like everyone else's this summer (those that weren't drowning in excessive rain), but when we planted, using the castings was fantastic, and we had no qualms about using the produce. The plants required only a little organic fertilizer and regular watering. The worms are very easy to maintain as well.

There was a man sitting next to me at a local restaurant, who was a retired cabinet-maker. He told me a story about having noticed that pallets coming in from South America were once made of exotic woods. He collected those pallets when he could find them, and used them in his cabinets and furniture.

My husband is a wood worker as well. Ever since I heard that story, I haven't been able to see a pallet without wondering about what kind of wood it's made of and what other uses might be made of it.

The marsupials were well organized. They'd probably been watching cartoons. I see one of them was named 'Skippy'.
