It's kind of fun to watch how many times Judy Garland does NOT appear in the film. The scene where Dorothy topples into the pigpen is actually double Bobbie Koshay as is Dorothy opening the farm door (although it is Garland who steps into technicolor) to Munkinland. All close up shots of the ruby slippers, including the famous zapping of the witch fingers (also Margaret Hamiltons double) are not Garlands feet and legs but her double. The black and white striped stockings of the dead witch, that shrivelled up and disappeared, foreshadowed Louis B. Mayer's belief that black and white movies were also dead.
