The Doors might have taken their name from Aldous Huxley's "The Doors of Perception," but Huxley took his title directly from William Blake.

Also, the band 10cc (best known for the song "I'm Not In Love") got its name because that is 1 cc more than the average male ejaculation.

You are aware, aren't you, that "The Origin of Species" had no "cover art"? The concept of cover art didn't even exist at the time. What is being parodied here is a widely recognized, though grossly oversimplified, graphical representation of Darwin's theory. It has no direct connection to Darwin or to his book (though it might have shown up on some later 20th century editions of the book).

Does anyone else find it strange that a guy who crawled into bed with an underage girl has the same name as the guy who wrote "American Beauty"?

I know others have already commented on this and I know you got the info from Uncle John, but "saved by the bell" IS a boxing term, first appearing in the latter half of the 19th century. You can find further information at

and at

among others.
