I agree. It will be a wonderful benefit for some of those who are now confined to wheelchairs. Merely being in the sitting position isolates the disabled in many situations. The social value of having your face at the same level as everone else's is not to be underestimated.
I live in the LA area, and I need a car. The nearest grocery store is about two hours walk from me. My bank is another two hours in the opposite direction. Thank goodness I work from home now, but many people here live maybe a four-day walk from their job.
We'll have the cars until we get neighborhoods again, with jobs and services all reasonably local, at least within biking distance.
