I don't care whether house prices rise or fall. Our house is bought and paid for. It's OURS! All the things I've done to it to make it nicer and to keep myself amused would have really upset a landlord. Adding the conservatory, running a decent wired network through it, adding rainwater capture to run the downstairs loo, removing a wall to make the bathroom larger, then adding a shower unit etc. There's not a single house round here with a landlord who would have allowed all that.

If you fossick about on the net you can find a scan of The Golden Book Of Chemistry Experiments, which though banned was actually really good.

I'm told they're running the classic liquidation scam of posting vastly inflated prices, then discounting them so they're at or above the usual market rate for that item. There's always some sucker who things it's a bargain...

OK, so if the bloke's got all his marbles and should have known better then perhaps he deserved it - not a point I'd care to concede, BUT...

What it's he's a bit odd?

Is it really acceptable to spray someone because they're a bit strange, or have a hang-up about people being polite? It's not as if there are really that many "normal" people out there. What if the next oddity that gets picked on is the one /you/ happen to have?

Noelegy:- I bet you'll find that the switch on the back of the phone is set to LD instead of DTMF. All exchanges in the UK still accept LD, though no one uses it much - only smart arses like me who can still tap-dial. I doubt the US is any different (that's if you're in the US - most of Neatorama's readers seem to be).

This lack of ability to balance risks in an appropriate manner is common and nothing new. In general, most people's perception of risk is very poor - and in this case clearly bonkers. The risk of a slightly cross baby that's not been fed the instant it's hungry is nothing compared to the risk of being smeared over mum's chest by an airbag or thrown about the car when it turns over.

I've not had an at-fault accident in twenty years of driving, but I still wear a seatbelt and make sure my kids do. Both accidents I have had involved being driven into from behind while stationary - in which case a seatbelt wouldn't help, but I /still/ wear one even after 250,000 miles of driving without ever having to need one.

The content may be fascinating, but the way the background image reloads each time you move to the next slide meant I could only be arsed to view the first few. Shame - it looked quite nice.
