@cuimhe: You don't seem to understand the role of a game designer. It has nothing whatsoever to go with art or graphic design. It has to do with game ideas. Something that an avid gamer might as well be good at.

And crossing the testing->making bridge is not as hard as you seem to think.

I must say that I don't condone his decision of becoming a pro-gamer. But it's not the end of the world for him, is what I'm saying.

People who play and understand games can get hired as a game tester. And what comes from there, since he doesn't have a degree in Computer Science or Arts, is the question?

Ever heard of game design? It's my job and my career path. While I do have a degree in graphic design, I could very well do without it. Or any other degree, in fact.

I doubt that he's going to make a career path out of pro-gaming, but he can go places from there.

Hi!

I'm a 22 year old girl, I graduated in Graphic Design but have been working with game design for about 3 years now. I live in a sunny, coastal Brazilian city near the equator, but am about to move to Barcelona in about a month and a half. My boyfriend moved to Lisbon last October, so I'm moving there to be a bit closer to him (even if it is another country altogether).

I like Monty Python, Nintendo, Batman and Kevin Smith movies, and I have this nasty tendency to buy notebooks and notepads even if I already have tens of unused ones in a corner. I also like to draw, hate crowds, and (presumably) like writing, even if the last time I've steadily written something was when I was 13. I lived in Florida when I was a child, so my English is mostly native. I have a knack for learning new languages, even if I'm too lazy to actually learn them.

Oh, yes, my predominant activity is procrastination.

"He ate fruit pretty much exclusively during this time period – a pretty amazing change for someone who is said to have been a cannibal."

This reminds me of Lemonhead's tribe in Monkey Island.

There was a similar case yesterday also in Brazil. A 4 year old was sleeping, and also his 2 year old brother. Criminals broke into the house, drugged and tied up their babysitter and set the furniture on fire. The 4 year old then woke up, untied the babysitter, opened the window and started crying for help.

(When I saw the news this morning on the paper, they hadn't disclosed the boy's name.)

Hey awesome, I know one of the girls who organize this blog, and many of the contestants! =D (It's a contest, by the way. The winner gets a mini-collection of Níquel Náusea - a brazilian mouse character - comics)
