I can relate in a microcosmic way. When the slowed economy meant fewer catering orders, I decided to take the banquet to the streets. Feeding the hungry, even if it is one grateful 84-year old woman, surrounded by predators (some family) who deny her the food in her very own pantry, gives me great satisfaction.

Such generosity is not dumb but rather the wisdom of the planet. Survival of the fittest means keeping strong to help another soul along.

It is in my downsized life I have found great blessings. This is the real joie de vivre.
