I'm no rocket scientist, but your depiction of orbital mechanics is a little wiggly. Faster spacecraft have to fly higher, slower ones lower. It's kind of like riding an inverted roller coaster. It would be easier to visualize your point by simply saying that the drag on the spacecraft increase or decreases.
