no, I don't think so. I think they send some of the ingredients up into space to "subject it to microgravity". Can't remember how or what though. One of their taglines is that they develop space-based products and make them available to the general public at affordable prices. They also have some seal of authenticity, the space product stamp. DonĂ°t know alot about that either. The concept was pretty interesting, but it's hard to compete now with proper space beer I guess:)

I once was doing some school project for a U.S. based company and remember that you yanks have your own line of space drinks. They had beer, as well as energy drinks (oh, and I don't work there) just remembered their "unparalleled by other ales available on earth". So I guess it is paralleled now.

@ Miss Cellania. Thank you, that is true, I noticed this as well. I think however that it won't be a tumble for them (Iceland)as it is mainly GDP that gets affected by the crisis. I guess they'll keep growing old and have a good education system without hyper-grown banks now, so still a decent showing on the next list is in line.

@angstrom. Good list, and comeback. Happy to see my fellow Danes doing their bit, and fellow Scandinavians of course.

@ Briannana. I don't think any bozos came out to sucker-punch America here. Some comments were made about how America, being all helpful and giving, was causing it to be so low on the list and that was simply being refuted, in an ever so polite manner I think. At least this has been the most polite 'pissing'-contest I've seen in a while without it becoming nasty and overly political within minutes.

heheh, I hope D Bozko had his on as well as many countries outside the US of A don't take meddling, interfering, bullying and harrassing on so many levels, as helping:) So bailout? never seen one that wasn't more about USA's interests more then the one it was "helping". Dont' get me wron, they do alot af things right, but alot is wrong there as well. These results are derived from the quality of education, probabilities of old age, GDP and a couple of other things so I don't see how the US being all helpful to others, would show them in bad light in such a poll.

Atlantis "image" was sonar data it seems.

"Google spokeswoman said the grid lines on the image, which the original British viewer described as resembling a "man-made aerial map," were caused by thin bands of sonar data collected by boats while mapping the bottom of the ocean, The Daily Mail reported."

Firstly, Malu was right about the Nordic vs Scandinavia split.

Secondly, what should Icelanders do with an animal that is wandering around hungry where the animal is far away from its natural habitat? Shoot it to protect the local wildlife (which is non-preditory except foxes and birds of prey perhaps). A polar bear has no place in the islands wildlife.

Thirdly, it is true that not many people live there (about 300.000) but you can bet your ass that some tourists were destined to be polar bear dinner within a day or two.

Finally, what's one polar bear killed by an Icelandic gun compared to the melting of the north pole, the polar bear's (and Santa's) home, by way of global warming from big industrial nations such as the USA? It's one bear people, so had the north pole not been melting he would probably not had floated to his imminent death in Iceland to begin with - so stop polluting and killing the bears that way before you lose it over one bear that died of "natural" causes.

Hilsen from big brother Denmark:)

I have to aggree with Sid here above. This study (and others of the same) just show the positive correlation. Aren't kids who eat breakfast likely to be more active or health concious to begin with? The causality chain is of a more argumentative nature than it is being portrayed as.

This is often passed off as something of an obvious thing, but it is like that old thing with correlation of ice-cream eating and rape; just because somethings share a pattern does not mean that they are in a causal relationship.

Hi Alex, and all.
I am a 30yo communication student from Iceland, studying in Aarhus, Denmark. I have been a compulsive lurker, and avid reader of your site for just about two years. I check for new posts at least twice per day.
I have too been guilty of hiding this site from friends (along with boingboing.net) to be the internet resource god of the group. I have now given them the reason for my virtuosity, namely neatorama.

To celebrate your monumental post number I thought it would be nice to break out of my lurker status and have a least one post in my name here. Thank you neatorama for your good work of keeping me sane.
