Hi thar! I'm 21, finishing up a BS in Game Design (One of the few girls in my major.) I check neatorama religiously but I'm mostly a lurker, and I've lived in Southern Cali my whole life. The weather is fantastic.
Congrats on 12345, and thank you for the wealth of generally useless but awesome information!

Wow, I'm absolutely amazed by the amount of people who didn't enjoy the movie... I haven't talked to anyone yet who didn't love it. I usually get horrifically carsick and I didn't have any trouble with this movie...
At any rate, I'm assuming most of you who are saying that the "shakycam" is a cheap trick have not seen the movie.... it's pretty essential to cinematography and, in my opinion, adds a lot to the film. If the camera had been perfectly steady it would completely ruin the feeling of immersion that this movie quite successfully creates. And stabilization or no, there's a lot of running going on and I dare any one of you to hold a camcorder steady while running for your life.
And no, camera techniques could not have been swapped out for a suspenseful score because there is no score.
One of the main points of the film is the realism involved. The people are just average people who just happen to have the camera on. You view it as it is shot, hence there is no score whatsoever.
Anyway, theres my essay on the topic.

This stinks of fakeness.
1. There's only one picture of this thing on the entire internet. If it was as popular as the article says (there are many articles, and they all say the same thing) I'm sure someone would have posted a picture of their fish.
2. Fish are not portable. It defeats the entire purpose of the product.
3. No article about this product lists any sort of company that created it, nor is there an official website.
4. The picture looks pretty dern 'shopped.

I'm in San Diego also...sammiched between the two big fires. Everyone's being evacuated to the center of SD, which is fine as long as the two fires don't connect and completely cut us off from getting out.
