Your title and summary are highly misleading. The study only found it in a single species of pipefish, NOT seahorses. There is some assumption in the article that it may apply to other pipefish. Seahorses are only mentioned as they are relatives, they were not studied in this capacity. Seahorse pregnancy is pretty well studied and to date there is no indication of this happening with seahorses.
