It might be difficult to determine how much of the airplane is dead weight. Given that a fly can fly all by itself means that any airplane apparatus is nothing more than a payload. But it isn't impossible that the payload offers usable lift. As a younger man, I was a glider-making fiend, and one of the obsessions was to make tiny gliders. I can tell you that gliders that small are certainly possible, though most of my most successful designs were canards. So the question is, how much pure payload can a fly accomodate? And how much of that payload can be compensated for if it exhibits appreciable lift?

A puzzling couple of words I've come thought of recently are "flammable" and "inflammable". They mean the same thing, though the use of "in" in "inflammable" seems to be sometimes interpreted as a negative prefix, changing the meaning in usage to it's opposite.

The only thing shocking about Earnhardt's death is that so many people think it was shocking. The guy raced cars and crashed at 150mph. In this universe, it's kind of an inherently risky way to make a living.

Next time you watch the movie, check out the queue of nannies lined up to interview for the nanny position - a bunch of them are actually men.

Ah, yes... mannies!

It's possible that petroglyphs were expressions of boredom. But they must have been pretty bored, as petroglyphs can take quite a bit of time and effort to do. Additionally, some sites appear to have been used for carving petroglyphs over long periods of time, as if generations came back to certain spots to make them. Which makes me think these certain spots had some significance to the people who left their mark. Perhaps it was something as simple as having easily carved rock, or correlation with things like natural springs or good game hunting.

It's also certainly possible that they were made by the insane, thought to be spiritually connected at the time. It does seem unlikely that they were penned up, however. I've seen many places in the Southwest of the US where such glypghs occur. Almost all were in wide open spaces, not caves or places that were conducive to being natural enclosures. Occasionally, they're done over very large open spaces in the case of geoglyphs.

Makes sense, really. The banks don't want a total loss, which is what would happen if they gave away lots with the unfinished houses, or even no houses. However, the cost of either maintaining unfinished houses, or finishing them and then maintaining them until the market picks up would be too high. Thus, tear 'em down is the cheaper solution. Most likely, they'll hold onto the land until the market comes back, at which point they'll develop anew, or sell to developers.

Memorable TV themes are really quite numerous. It's not unusual for the themes to be much more memorable than the shows themselves.

However, I've never been impressed with the "Friends" or "Simpsons" themes. Off the top of my head, ones that I think really stick out in pop culture are "Sanford And Son", "The Twilight Zone" and "Mission Impossible".

Also, ISTR R2D2 had some synthesizer in his voice.

I remember fixing the various viruses on my then girlfriend's Mac... 512KE... back around 1987. But who's keeping track? It didn't have a hard drive, so they didn't count, right?

Having tried baking soda, I found the effect very curious. Used alone, it does seem to keep BO at bay. What it does not do is absorb any moisture. In fact, it seems to make me perspire more! While it will work in a pinch, my regular unscented deodorant/antiperspirant does a better job overall.

The baby crying tip seems kinda weird, too. If a baby won't stop crying, there's likely something wrong. Making odd noises might distract for a while. But I'm not convinced that babies harbor any nostalgic feelings about being in the womb, or the sounds to be heard there.
