Call me critical, but only a couple of those photos showed any sort of attempt at composition. A handful of mediocre photos is not made better just by making them black and white.

I doubt anybody mistook the location for Massachusetts. I think the direction is meant to be ambiguous, but the meaning is probably a remidner that even though your ancestors came over on the Mayflower, at one point, they were immigrants, too.
