Apparently responding to a point in another post is now trolling. Thomas has spoken.

And creation science doesn't get forced into the classroom. It has been forced out of the classroom. The books are banned. There are thousands of creation scientists who are just as qualified as the other side. There just aren't as many.

Ah yes. The magic of Evolution. Scissors. That's what Darwin forgot. Maybe some canadian skeptic will show us more of Evolution's triumphs.
(Kirk Cameron is giving creation science a bad name. Probably because he doesn't seem to actually know anything about science.)

I am one of the "fundies" as is apparently the prefered name. Yes, I did notice this was not real. Believe it or not, there actually are christians who are sane, rational, intelligent (relatively), and have a sense of humor. Don't get your info from "Carrie".

It is chewbacca!

Of course, some people think that anyone who disagrees with them is a "troll".

It is sometimes an easy out to avoid actually debating facts or logic.

The premise of the article should be fairly obvious to most folks. But the author makes some bizarre claims as to the solutions.

I doubt that taxing 90% of a man's $50 million would keep him happy, as the author suggests. However, if the man used 90% of his money to help feed the poor, I think he might feel good about himself and feel happier.

That is one of the most glaring differences between liberal and conservative thought, in my opinion. Both of us think that the man should share his wealth, but the conservative tends to think he has the choice, while the liberal tends to think he shouldn't.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know not all liberals think the same way. This is a generalization of the majority.

Isn't this article just telling what we all already knew? I guess this just means that someone actually got the teachers to talk a bit about this.

I find it amusing how nervous the teachers seemed to discuss this topic. Unfortunately, they probably have good reason to. You never know when a lawsuit from an angry parent is just around the corner.

(I'd like to see Harvard's president talk about this issue.)

smallerdemon:

[False Analogy: An informal fallacy. “In an analogy, two objects (or events), A and B are shown to be similar. Then it is argued that since A has property P, so also B must have property P. An analogy fails when the two objects, A and B, are different in a way which affects whether they both have property P.]

You're missing the point. And actually helping mine. Anything good in San Fran doesn't necessarily come from being extremely leftist.

By the way

For any of you who think San Fran is great because it is heavily leftist, remember that Detroit is approximately equally leftist.

This is apparently a touchy issue to evoke such a strong response from the "loony left".

The comments are reduced to calling conservatives stupid, greedy, and corrupt. Of course, there are many who are so, but any group has its share of bad eggs.

We can't have an adequate discussion in this short form, but I'll try to make one point.

To say that a conservative doesn't care about inequality is not the same as saying that one allows for a measure of inequality. The "rich" and everyone else should give money and time to help the needy, but it makes no sense that the government should coerce charity, because it is no longer charity at that point.

Start worrying more about how to solve the problems instead of blaming everyone else for them.

Apparently, if someone is stealing from you or your neighbor, you have to just let them.

What's the point allowing a gun if no one can use it when needed?

I am surprised how many people think the best way to deal with confused people is to coddle them. We, as a society, have become so afraid of hurting someone's feelings that we treat people like children instead of owning up to reality.

My child can put on a cape and pretend he's superman, and I might indulge him for a while. But if he's 30 and still running around with a cape? Then I think it's time for reality to set in. No more pretending.

Let's start treating these people like adults.

Kind of ironic that a way to reduce oil usage and pollution is contributing to overpopulation. The environmentalist activists can't be happy with this news!
