I remember seeing them, too, for the very first time, on the Ed Sullivan Show. I was eight years old. What I especially remember, though, was that when they displayed their names, they had John Lennon's name when they showed George Harrison, and George Harrison's name when they showed John Lennon. My favorite at the time was George, but I thought his name was John because of the mix-up on the Ed Sullivan Show. That confused me for the longest time.
