Looks as though we need to back to the drawing board - er, laboratory - on GMOs. I've been saying that, though the basic concept is good, we're trying to do too much too soon.
Reminds me of that line from "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home": "Don't leave him in the hands of 20th century medicine!" What modern devices and treatments will be disdained by doctors in future centuries?
This yarn would make a helluva movie. Already has a strong, non-white female protagonist. I'm sure Hollywood could find ways to make it more dramatic than need be.
Great! I LOVE asparagus. And sweet potatoes, and Brussels sprouts, and spinach (my classmates thought I was weird - I have loved spinach since I was small!), and broccoli. Other faves I am glad to see on this list include mushrooms and tomatoes.
Sounds a little like a potlatch, a ceremonial feast of Northwestern Native Americans/First Nations. The richest members of the tribe would give away or destroy items to show off their wealth.
This is uber-cool! The amoeba sending tendrils towards food while avoiding light has some interesting implications: 1) using amoebae in technology (get those brain cells a-firin', folks!) and 2) replicating what it does with a computer program.
