Uh, Barbie, John and Yoko were separated for 18 months in a split that Lennon later called his "Lost Weekend" even though it lasted for many months. Google it. Their marriage had its share of troubles.
Nice summary, Eddie. I do believe George was quite resentful of John, no matter how much he idolized him. George had supported John in the fight with Paul, and I bet George thought he and John would collaborate on songs and in concerts. And instead, John replaced his partner Paul with Yoko and never really was interested in collaborating with George. Given the stress George was under in 1974 (for all the reasons you cite) I bet he felt more than a little betrayed by John, who was supposed to show up for one of George's concerts and never did.
