When the tropes were created mobile phones and smart phones didn't exist. It's a very slow learning curve to adjust plotting with new technology. Do you know how long it took for TV and Movies to acknowledge that people had cell phones. The characters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer didn't have cell phones until their last season in 2003. In my small midwestern town we had them as early as 1999 so you know they were more prevalent in California years before that. They are just getting used to have mobile phones effecting the plots. That's why any smartphones seen are only used for calls or facetime which is more visually dynamic.

My Girl Scout troop had a couple little brothers do everything with us. They said it was more fun than cub scouts. We learned astronomy, camping skills, and public speaking. Curriculum is pretty much up to the individual troop leaders. So how "girly" it is depends on that. My leaders were a couple of farmers' wives and allowed a lot of independent study with one on one attention with them. I was the only girl scout to achieve a computer badge in my troop (it was '86 so it mostly involved a calculator and BASIC).

Having worked at GSA at the state level, anyone can be a Girl Scout, no matter what age or gender. The only requirement is paying the yearly dues.

The Boys Scouts is very conservative organization with close ties to the US military and the LDS church. GSA on the other hand is very liberal at the National level but the autonomy they give to the troop leaders sometimes leads to a disconnect of values.

I frankly still don't understand it. The "Betrayal" was referencing a past reference. Maybe it hearkens back to the the only time a woman should be mentioned in print should be her birth, marriage and death. Miss Emily has now been mentioned in three other publications. Booy's memoir, Winchester's book and the linked article. le scandal. the shame of it all.

Chickens lose some of their weight during the cooking process. Raw chickens are packaged in brine plus fat breaks down and drips away, price per pound is not going to be an accurate comparison between raw vs cooked. Bone size makes a difference in chicken weight vs meat available per carcass too. I have purchased chickens from the refrigerator case that had very big bones but the same a amount of meat as smaller, cheaper bird.
In my area, food prices are pretty low, but a raw whole chicken usually runs between $5.99-$7.00. It is cheaper to buy the pre-cooked chicken. I don't though because I almost never need the meat right away. So it would be extra work after a evening of grocery shopping to break down the bird to freeze the meat and prepare the bones for stock (the main reason to get a whole bird vs a package of just thighs or just breasts.) It's more convenient for me to just cook it on another day.

I have seen this a ton of times on tumblr but never was that last panel included. The post you refer back to doesn't have the panel either and the art is completely different. Are you sure it is actually a part of the comic and not some dark add-on someone else tacked on?
