that's certainly how professional displays are done. kinda hard to find rocketry supplies these days for the average joe though. over an hours drive to the nearest hobby shop that carries estes products where i live. then when you get there you find that all they have are 3 or 4 rockets that have premade plastic fin modules tubes that need no sealing or dope and the only engines that are available are wimpy anemic ones that will barely push your craft past 350 feet. when i was a teenager we could order kits and engines from Competition Model Rocketry. they had E and F grades of engines, some had initial thrusts of over 60 lbs and a 7 second burn! some models could break the sound barrier and reach altitudes of a mile or more. those were the days...*wipes little tear from eye
maybe the balls are made from lapis lazuli and smokey quartz, and the cord is a high tech elasticized carbon fiber...or they just buy 99 cent 10 packs at dollar general and repackage them.
i'm way too lazy to do all the research into pricing over the years and then all the math, but judging from the current prices of birthday cards i'm guessing they've saved a lot more than $100.
speakers of high quality tend to weigh more due to the design of a housing that doesn't resonate and color the sound (damping materials, thicker and denser housing, internal bracing) also a decent magnet to push the drivers adds considerable weight. this is why the speakers from a cheap wall mart shelf system weigh just 2-5 lbs (thin cheap plastic shell, no damping tiny crappy magnet) while high end bookshelf speakers weigh 25-80 lbs a piece. some of the ultra high end floor speakers in the 100,000$+ a pair price range weigh as much as 5oo lbs a piece. the same principle applies to headphones on a smaller scale.
unfortunately, no matter how good the tattooist's technique is all the tiny negative space between the black elements will slowly close up due to the nature of the tattoo aging process.depending on the skin, health and sun exposure of the recipient these will all look pretty lousy in 5-15 years. a well designed tattoo takes this into account so 30 years from now your work is still clearly readable and easily refreshed if needed.
perhaps it's pre earbotomy :) actually to be serious for a second i have read that he only actually took off the tip of his ear lobe, so this could be him after all.
sounds nice. i went to a small private art school (MICA) and working 30 hrs a week made virtually no dent in my expenses even with extensive scholarships pell grants and hefty family help. can't exactly say i regret it but i feel like someone somewhere could have made the implications of attending a school that was 32,000$ a year for tuition alone with up to 8000$/year in supplies (then feeding and housing in Baltimore in the late 80's) just a bit clearer. especially considering what the job prospects for a recent grad with a painting or sculpture degree are.
am i the only one to be saddened to find out that Miss Cellania is AI? it's like the tooth fairy and santa claus all over again. god the world is so cruel.....
