I'd always wanted to see this film; I kept meaning to see it from the day it came out. one weekend, my boyfriend and I finally managed to remember to rent it, but for one reason or another we didn't get around to watching it.

Anyways, later that week, the Tuesday in fact, my great-grandfather passed away. he was one of my best friends; my protector more than anything. he loved to spin a tale for the kids. he'd do anything for us young ones.

I was his eldest great-grandchild and he always had this story between us how I'd make him a great-great-Grandad and they would make him a great-great-great-Grandad...

I saw this film literally a few hours after he died and could not contain myself. I cried so much. obviously I was sad that we'd lost him, but seriously, it made me feel Ok about it, I really felt like it was Ok that he'd gone and that sometimes, people need to swim away to something else.

maybe that all sounds cheesy or whatever. but, jeez, I really really love this film. It really is beautiful x
