Tiger Nibbles on Roofless Jeep Full of Petrified Passengers

YouTube Link

This video, posted to the YouTube Channel of the Karhandla Gate Umred Wildlife Sanctuary located in the Nagpur district of the Maharashtra state of India, is presented without explanation. It isn't clear where the driver of the vehicle is (or is that him laying low in what appears to be the passenger seat?) and why the vehicle is stopped in the first place.

What is apparent is that the passengers inside this easily penetrated roofless Jeep are aware of the risk to their persons, as they heave sighs, whispers and uneasy giggles of relief when the tiger, initially interested in the side mirror, seems to back off and lose interest in further persuing the matter. Timo Has Mastered the Hammock

It’s been almost two years since Timo the Ragdoll Cat received his own cat-sized hammock. He was quite awkward with it at first, but practice make purrfect, and Timo has certainly practiced his napping in the hammock.

(YouTube link)

In this compilation video, you can see how Timo went from failure to mastery of the hammock over time. See, when the goal is the ultimate in relaxation, even a cat will put in the hours necessary to get it right. -via Arbroath

Animals Sniffing Flowers is an Adorable Equation

Image: Matt Binstead

It's advice that has long been issued to young and old alike: "take time out to stop and smell the roses." Humans considered to be all too consumed by the often joyless circumstances of their busy lives are those who typically find the saying directed at them the most.

The beautiful animals pictured above and below don't need to be given such instructions. It's their instinct to pause and enjoy the things that please their five senses. People could do well to take after these animals and more frequently savor the simple pleasures.

Baby Elephant Discovers Her Trunk

(Video Link)

I remember when, as a baby, my eldest daughter discovered that she had feet. For a few days, they were to her the most fascinating things in the world.

This week-old baby elephant at Chai Lai Orchid Eco-Lodge in Thailand has made a similar discovery: she has a trunk! Her immediate task is to explore it fully.

Kitten Got Head Wedged in Dumpster Drain

Somehow, a tiny kitten got into a large industrial bin at a parking lot in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK. What’s worse, the kitten then got her head through the drain hole at the bottom and became stuck! A passerby notice the kitten and alerted the RSPCA.

RSPCA inspector Steve Morrall said: "When I arrived, I saw the head of the kitten poking out from this bin - it was so unusual and I have never seen anything like it before.

"It is very likely she was looking for food in the bin, but panicked when the bin was being emptied and got herself stuck.

"The kitten was so stuck that it became obvious I would need extra assistance from West Midlands Fire Service. They were absolutely brilliant."

The fire service used a small plastic collar coated with a lubricant to gently ease the kitten’s head back through the hole. A veterinarian was standing by in case sedation was needed. The kitten was then examined at a veterinary clinic and deemed healthy outside of an understandably low temperature. The five-week-old kitten was turned over to the RSPCA, who named her Dusty and will put her up for adoption soon. -via Arbroath

Movie Poster Postcards Superimposed Over Real Dogs

Dogs are cute, entertaining to watch and get lots of love from human fans wherever they go, but most of our dogs simply don't have famous faces.

That doesn't become an issue until you start to believe your dog belongs in motion pictures, which comes right before producers start asking for your dog's résumé.

But before you enroll your dog in acting classes or start sending them to auditions for short films you should take a tip from Malaysian artist Jaemy Choong and make your dog instantly famous instead.

Jaemy holds up a postcard sized movie poster over an unfamous dog to superimpose the fame and fan acclaim right onto that basic Basset Hound or generic German Shepherd.

Despite Being Frequently Kicked Out, Cat Insists on Overlording a London Supermarket

Olly Oliver presides over Sainsbury's from his perch atop the shelves | Image: Nigel Thornberry

If you happen to be a regular shopper at the Brockley location of Sainsbury’s market in London, chances are that you're not hostile toward the idea of having a cat hanging out with your prospective food purchases. Because Olly Oliver, the six-year-old cat pictured above, is a fairly regular installment.

He may live in the house next door, but Olly obviously prefers the action, company and interesting smells of Sainsbury's to his quiet home. Though a spokesperson for the market calls the cat a health and safety risk and says he's been removed from the premises multiple times, Olly, who is popular with the store staff, still manages to accrue significant hang time.

See a video and more pictures of this unlikely food spokesman — including a shot of him curled up with his brother — here.

Cats Versus Dogs By Bird Born

Lots of comics deal with the differences between cats and dogs, since they are the most popular pets for pencil jockeys, but there has never been a collection of difference drawings quite like this series by Bird Born.

That's because Bird Born only finished the series about a year ago, so if they look like comic drawings starring cats and dogs you remember reading as a kid you're probably thinking of Garfield or Heathcliff.

It's easy to mistake Bird Born's comical cells for some cute strip from yesteryear, because there's just something so classic about his comics!

Jenkins’ Cat Fort

Jack Shepherd wanted to make a nice play fort for his cat, Jenkins. He ended up building “The World’s Most Glorious Cat Fort” complete with two stories, towers, windows, ramps, beds, tunnels, scratching posts, a bridge, and a lighted entry. It’s made of cardboard held together by duct tape, but Jenkins loves cardboard, so it’s all good. You can see a pictorial on how the fort was built, plus more pictures of Jenkins enjoying his new cat palace, at Buzzfeed.

Dangling Thing

There’s a piece of a cardboard tube hanging from a string. The cat wants to grab it, but he’s a good foot or two away and seems to have no clue. Maybe he has a problem with depth perception.

(YouTube link)

If that’s the case, it’s a good thing he’s a house cat instead of a feral who has to catch prey. Then again, maybe he’s just had too much catnip. He’ll no doubt get ribbed about this incident by the other cat, who seems to be amused at his difficulty. -via Arbroath
