Poor ducklings! 8 of them fell into a storm drain in Titirangi, New Zealand. Fortunately, the local volunteer fire brigade showed up to save the day. The firefighters opened the drain, then one of them hung upside down so that he could reach the ducks. After pulling the ducklings out, the firefighters placed them in a handy traffic cone, then released them to the care of their anxious mama.

Rey was born eight months ago with no eyes. Alexander Speweik adopted Rey and her sister Leia, and Rey now gets around the apartment just fine. She even plays fetch!
Wadded up aluminum makes a great ball to roll around on a wood floor, and Rey follows it almost perfectly just by the sound. She also plays with boxes, climbs her cat tower, and wrestles with her sister. She doesn’t chase a laser light, but likes to play with the chain attached to the laser pen! You can follow Rey at her Facebook page or at Instagram. -via Digg
You’ve seen dogs dance with humans in canine freestyle competitions, but have you ever seen a goat dance with a human like that? Or a chicken? These goats do, and more besides. They run agility courses, and have learned to, uh, help Marie take her clothes off.
Marie Verbouw trained her goats Roosje and Kato and the chicken Milca to do all kinds of incredible things. Wait until the dogs get s load of a goat in their agility competitions! -via reddit
I'm not sure if this cat is a hipster or if it's his owner, but I am sure that this handlebar meowstache has certainly made the Cone of Shame a lot more entertaing. Redditor Lexsi04 says that after her friend's cat went through surgery, they decided to have a little fun -and I'm glad they decided to share their fun with the world.
We hear horror stories about abandoned animals saved from the jaws of death far too often these days, but the really odd cases stay with us to remind us how not to care for a pet.
The dog, dubbed Freeway Frida by the Galt police officer Sylvia Coelho who rescued her, was first spotted by drivers on Highway 99 near Simmerhorn Road back in April, but she evaded capture so the police were unable to nab her until around May 18th.
Frida was treated for a broken leg and is said to be doing well, and since she's not microchipped and her owner isn't coming forward (for obvious reasons) officer Cuelho says she might have to adopt her.
Louise Véronneau and Dominic Husson of Montreal, Canada had a glorious destination wedding planned. They decided to tie the knot at an animal shelter in Parlier, California.
The Cat House on the Kings (previously) is a shelter that caters to cats alone. Nearly a thousand of them were present to witness the happy couple get married. Lynea Lattanzio, the human owner of the facility, got ordained so that she could officiate. ABC 30 describes how Véronneau's and Husson's mutual love of cats brought them together:
Louise Veronneau and Dominic Husson meet in Quebec and decided to get married after dating for the past three years.
They have traveled around the world together and learned they both have a passion for animals, especially cats.
"I saw that we were sharing the same values," Veronneau said. "These are values these are the basics of our relationship and out love for animals and beings."
"We are both animal lovers and it was easy," Husson exclaimed. "She is a great person, that is why I married her."
Your cat may show you affection by licking you. But some cat owners are uncomfortable licking their cats in response. Don't ask me why, but it's true.
Now those poor souls have a solution: the Licki Brush. It's a long, plastic, tongue-like object that fits inside your mouth. You use your head to brush it across your cat or the person sitting next to you on the bus. The soft bristles on the tongue groom and soothe the recipient of the licks. You can see a video demonstration here.
With all the controversy around the transgendered bathroom issues, one thing that keeps coming up is the idea of whether or not it is "natural." In this matter, there really shouldn't be much argument. Aside from the fact that there are ample humans born intersexed, the idea that transexualism isn't prevelant in nature is wrong.
Cats love boxes so very much, just ask Maru. Simon Tofield has four cats, so he knows that well. In this episode of Simon’s Cat Logic, Nicky Trevorrow from Cats Protection explains the allure of the simple cardboard box.
Coyote Peterson was wandering through the Costa Rican rainforest at night -which doesn’t seem all that safe- when he encountered an ocelot. Luckily, this was a half-grown cat that was somewhat used to people. Still, how strange is it that a wildcat will let you pet her?
She also wants to play, and you know how cats play, by attacking! Peterson gets his ear chewed on and a few scratches. Don’t try this at home. As if you could! Let’s just hope that this ocelot’s ease around humans doesn’t lead her to a bad end someday. -via Viral Viral Videos
It's even worse when someone takes a picture of you with that walleyed expression on your face and then posts it on the interwebs, because you know somebody's gonna Photoshop you into an embarrassing meme.
Luckily, the walleyed fellow in this instance is a confused dog who doesn't have permission to go online, so he'll probably never see all the Buscemian things people have done with his pic.
A few good things have come from the confused dog's sudden internet fame, such as his new friendship with the Dramatic Cupcake Dog, whose stare is a bit straighter but no less intense.
Tracy Lega's horse Donato stared at the tiny human in the stable. Then he decided to play babysitter. He gently rocked the boy's car seat back and forth, entertaining both himself and the baby.
Elmo the Irish setter belongs to a music store owner in Finland. When he gets the chance to check out the piano display room, he knows just what to do!
One dog, three pianos. My husband yelled from the other room, “Who’s hurting that dog?” I replied that he’s just suffering from the noise. Elmo may not yet be ready for Carnegie Hall, but he’s got the drive and enthusiasm to get there someday. -via Tastefully Offensive
Imagine that your job is to straighten up the panda yard. You’re trying to remove the dried leaves, but all the two juvenile giant pandas see is an opportunity to play. It's like trying to do housework around a bunch of toddlers, except these youngsters are big, strong bears!
This happened at a panda breeding facility in Sichuan, China. You have to wonder how many people were watching at the time. The worker gets frustrated at first, then she giggles (because who wouldn’t), and finally appears to enjoy putting on a show for the onlookers. Maybe they do this routine every day! -via Viral Viral Videos
A goat (described as a lamb in the video description) was born in December in China's Yunnan Province without its back legs. The female kid was seen standing only a day after its birth. She also tried to walk, and within a week had figured out how to get around on two forelegs.
