Cat Street View

Imagine a Google Street View world for creatures only about 12 inches tall. This is Hiroshima Cat Street View, a web application from Hiroshima Prefecture. Imagine you are a cat, just exploring the neighborhood. Turn left or right, and you may see another cat. If you do, click on its little icon to see an introduction with more pictures. Although most of the text is in Japanese, it shouldn’t matter much because here you are a cat, and cats don’t even read. -via the AV Club

Cat Has No Fear of Tiger

(Video Link)

Mikos the cat stares down the tiger, who is separated from him by only a wire fence. Eventually, the tiger gives in and wanders off.

That’s the way that a lot of people are interpreting this video. But I think that Mikos is flirting with the tiger, who responds by rejecting his advances. Get back to OK Cupid, Mikos.

Lincoln Park Zoo's First Red Panda Cubs Get a Checkup

The Lincoln Park Zoo welcomed their first-ever birth of red panda cubs, a litter of a boy and a girl named Clark and Addison, respectively. The cubs were born to mama Leafa and papa Phoenix on June 26, and are every bit as typically adorable as all cubs of the species.

The video footage below shows Addison and Clark as they received their second medical exam. The two are thriving; Addison's weight has nearly tripled since last weigh-in and Clark's has doubled. See additional pictures and read more about Lincoln Park Zoo's growing red panda family at Zooborns.

Rogue Runner Leaves Pack in Weiner Dog Race, Takes a Bite Out of Life

YouTube Link

Pacific Coast League minor team the El Paso Chihuahuas got more race than they bargained for when they hosted the Wiener Schnitzel weenie dog race on the field before their game last Saturday. Apparently no one at the park anticipated the soaring spirit of a dachshund running on his own personal Field of Dreams. The desire to break free of all constraint was just too strong to keep in check. As is evident from the video, the joyfully naughty canine was eventually apprehended after a chase. Nice run while it lasted, little guy. Via Bark Post

Mastiff Swimming Lessons

Mastiffs make effective guard dogs due to their massive size and deep barks, and their giant frames also make them ideal steeds for kids, but they're not generally know for their swimming skills.

(YouTube Link)

Some mastiffs can't even doggy paddle without swimming lessons, but as you can see in this video if you try and try again, and treat your mastiff like a big ol' baby, they'll get the hang of swimming with just a few lessons.

(YouTube Link)

You gotta give it to Sailor the mastiff for keeping a cool head, and his human Brad H is not only a calm and caring owner, he's also quite the doggy swimming instructor!

A Camera is Set Up to See How This 11-Week-Old Corgi Regularly Escapes Puppy Jail

YouTube Link

Beau is just a baby corgi; at eleven weeks, he's only been weaned from mama corgi for a short time. But youth isn't stopping Beau from figuring out how to live his best puppy life around the ol' homestead. Why should he be confined to a treat-free, boring kitchen when his human is away? Exploring the house would be much more fun. Thus, day after day, Beau is bustin' himself out of his lame, poorly positioned puppy gate. You're going to have to get up earlier than that in order to outsmart this pup, human. Via Viral Nova

Loki in the Snow

Loki is a malamute/husky/arctic wolf mix (a “low content wolfdog”), so he is naturally at home in the snow. Enjoy watching him frolic joyfully across the mountains of Colorado. It might just cool you off on a hot day!

You can see many beautiful pictures of Loki at his Instagram page. The song is "First" by Cold War Kids. -via Tastefully Offensive

Men Go Fishing, Catch Kittens

Jason Frost and Brandon Key went fishing on the Black Warrior River in Alabama on Saturday. They didn’t expect to see kittens swimming toward them as if desperate for a boat ride.

(YouTube link)

Frost posted the video to Facebook, where he said,

I really don't know how to describe this video, but the Warrior River never fails to surprise me......this puts a new spin on the term "catfishing"

Both kittens already have a new home together. -via Time

Human Toddler and Gorilla Toddler Play Peek-A-Boo

(Video Link)

Isaiah Chute is 2 and 1/2. Kamoli the gorilla is about 1 and a 1/2. They're perfect playmates, as you can see in this video shot at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. For about 6 minutes, they played peek-a-boo, hide-and-seek, and pounded their chests.

Now Your Pet Can Join The Rebellion or the Empire

We've previously posted the adorable works of Etsy seller iheartneedlework (see her celebratory hats and Frankenstein costume), but these great Darth and Leia hats are too cute to ignore.

On the other hand, if you prefer Frozen over Star Wars (to each his own, I guess), you don't want to miss this adorable Olaf hat featuring the character's trademark goofball face.

You can even make your kitty into an amazing Little Mermaid.

Shy Octopus Hides under His Tentacles

The Dumbo Octopus (Grimpoteuthis) is unavoidably cute! He can dance and stick out his tongue, so he's a natural performer. But that's only once he's ready. When caught unawares, the Dumbo gets shy. The oceanographers on board the exploratory vessel Nautilis discovered that while exploring the coast of central California. At the 1:34 mark in the video below, he covers his face when the camera zooms in on him.

Kitten Pro Westling

(Video Link)

Although it looks cute, I've long suspected that kitten wrestling is fake. The way that they paw at each other with no one getting seriously injured or gaining lasting advantage of the other . . . that's got to be scripted.

Two New Snow Leopard Cubs

The Chicago Zoological Society proudly announced two new arrivals at the Brookfield Zoo yesterday: snow leopard cubs! Well, the announcement was yesterday; the cubs were born on June 16th. Since then, they have been living in seclusion with their mother, 4-year-old Sarani. Their father is 5-year-old Sabu. Both cubs are female, and have no names yet (which sounds like a crowdsourcing project may be coming). Snow leopards are one of earth’s seven "big cats," and are an endangered species. There are only a few thousand left in the wild.

(YouTube link)

The new cubs will remain in their own private living quarters until October, when they will be introduced to the public. Meanwhile, you can read more about them at the zoo’s website, and keep up with their progress through Facebook. -via Buzzfeed
