Missy may be an older dog, but she's hardly one to eschew the idea of newer technology. Thanks to an iPad and an internet connection to YouTube, Missy is kept endlessly entertained by videos. In particular, she likes videos of wolves, to which she responds with animated enthusiasm.
Readers, do you have animals that watch and react to videos on television, laptops or tablets? Both of my dogs react even more than Missy when they see animals of any type on video, especially other canines. Comment with your experiences, if you'd like. Via Tastefully Offensive
Though cats and snails are natural enemies, the cats are surprisingly relaxed--not a trace of fear from either one. Shiro is so peaceful that he's almost asleep, rousing only to kiss his companion. Kuro noses the snail curiously, who responds in kind. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
How did the snail end up on Shiro? His owner has a great hobby: putting objects on Shiro to see how he will react.
Papa Dog loves his puppy, even though he's not blood kin. It takes a pack to raise one, you know. So he makes sure that the vulnerable infant stays warm while napping.
When Etienne Harris returns home after being away for the day, his pit bull terriers Missy and Laydie are excited and happy to see him and exchange greetings. Yet when it comes to the topic of any mischief they may have participated in while Harris was away, the dogs make it clear that he can talk to the paw. Via Tastefully Offensive
This older video continues to make the rounds online due to its humorous subject: a discerning little Corgi named Kinney. Kinney likes to give her owner Mark White love, but only under certain circumstances. Specifically, White gets Kinney's attention when he talks like a member of the Beatles. Sure, a number of YouTube commenters have said White's Beatle voice sounds more like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons or Stewie from Family Guy, but that makes no difference to Kinney. When the imitation starts rolling off White's tongue, the dog comes running. No other accent will do. Perhaps she heard that Corgis are the preferred breed of Queen Elizabeth II? Via IAF TV
YouTube user Devon Meadows set up a camera to see how much his dog Chazz was barking when Meadows left home. But the human need not worry about Chazz being a noisy nuisance. The dog's housemate, Grayscale the cat, is fully capable of handling the problem. One stern stare renders the dog silent and sorry. Via 9GAGTV
This lion cub has the urge to let loose with a roar, but what comes out of his mouth instead is hardly intimidating. Be patient, little cutie. You'll be king of the jungle in good time. Via Esquire
Some dogs want to spend their lives by our sides, to experience this adventure called life with their human best friends and make sure they never miss out on a tasty moment.
But most dogs won't get to experience life this way because it's simply too hard to take them with us everywhere we go, so they get left at home.
Outdoor enthusiast Kelly Lund wasn't content to leave his beautiful dog Loki at home while he traveled, so he started taking the massive wolfdog with him and snapping beautiful pics of the moments they share together in the wild.
Loki and his human don't dig the indoor life, and their restlessness will surely keep them camping out under the clear sky for years to come, and hopefully Kelly will keep snapping wonderful pics to share via Loki The Wolfdog's Instagram!
Eugene Bostick, 80, of Fort Worth, Texas has a big heart for abandoned dogs. Since he retired 15 years ago, he's been picking up dogs that people leave behind on the street. He takes them to the vet, has them spayed and neutered, then takes care of them.
The dogs have lots of room to run and play on his farm. But Bostick wanted to give them a special adventure. So he built this train using welded steel rods, wheels, and pastic barrels. Bostick hooks the train up to his riding lawnmower and takes the dogs for a rides. The Dodo reports:
Once or twice a week now, Bostick and the nine dogs currently under his care can be seen puttering down quiet streets around town or through the forest near their home, or stopping by a local creek for some fresh air in the custom dog train. It's something the formerly unloved dogs have come to relish in their happy new lives.
Safari tourists drove through Kruger National Park in South Africa. They stopped to watch an elephant family. The baby wanted to act big and tough, like a full-grown elephant should. So he charged the tourists and trumpeted. Sorry, little guy. You'll have to grow up a bit more before you can scare the humans.
What's that about scientists saying that cats don't actually love people? Don't tell that to this extremely affectionate feline. The boy is playing hard to get, but the cat is patient and very aggressive.
Receently, Pizza Rat made a big splash on the Internet, the coverage of which even included behind-the-scenes-interviews with those who were lucky enough to meet the famed rodent.
Now it seems as if Pizza Rat has competition, and in his hometown, no less. Enter Shake Shack Squirrel. He got aggressive upon finding the leftovers of a Shake Shack milkshake in a trash can. Like a true New Yorker, he knows that Shake Shack cannot be resisted, and must be inhaled promptly. That he does in this clip, as onlookers provide their commentary. Pizza Rat, this guy was caught on video imbibing his find. Better get moving on the munching! Via Laughing Squid
As animal lovers know, cats aren't the safe bet for instant affection that dogs are. They may deign to accept your offering of love, or they may not. Are your cuticles appropriately manicured? Have you lotioned your hand so that it's soft, and are your nails filed and clean? If your nails are painted, is it an appropriate color? Gaudy nail color won't be tolerated. Your cat may present you with a list of acceptable times to pet him or her: please follow it to the letter. If not, you WILL get the paw. Via Tastefully Offensive
