When two young bears enter the gated area leading to this French bulldog's home, he springs into action. Without hesitation, the Frenchie descends upon the bears like the proverbial Bat Out of Hell. The dog doesn't let up with the scare tactics until both bears are off the premises. Someone give that canine a steak! Via Tastefully Offensive
Oliver has a tiny electric car just big enough for himself, but he’s managed to squeeze in Daisy the dog, too. Mom has a remote that can kill the power any time. On this day, Daisy is the one doing the steering! -via Viral Viral Videos
In August of last year, Neatorama featured a video of a bear walking on two legs through the suburbs of New Jersey. Now it appears as if this celebrated bipedal bear is back in action, having recently been sighted in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. The bear, whom neighborhood residents have dubbed "Pedals," is injured, as he is missing one of his front paws. The animal, who looks quite a bit thinner than the average bear, was seen searching garbage cans in the neighborhood for food. Hopefully Pedals will fatten up before it's time to hole up for the winter. Via Gothamist
Stephanie Arne, a wildlife conservationist, is--or was--the host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. She has not been heard of since making this horrifying video. Unfortunately, though she was a wildlife expert, she waded into a pool of baby Asian Small-Clawed Otters without wearing body armor or taking other necessary protective measures. The video cuts out before we can see her fate, but that's probably for the best.
This is Bolinha, a stray dog that lives in a slum of Rio de Janeiro. She appeared in the neighborhood about a year ago and is a good neighbor. She plays with the children actively. Recently, the kids gave her the end of their jump rope. She joined in their game!
It's a stylish one piece suit with pair of stripes across the midriff to accentuate the body's lines. Why is this baby loggerhead sea turtle wearing it? Owen Coffee, a doctoral student at the University of Queensland built this swimsuit in order to hold a diaper on it. This is how Coffee and his colleagues will collect fecal samples, which are usually difficult to acquire from wild sea turtles. ABC News reports:
But Mr Coffee said it had previously been difficult to collect entire faecal samples because it dispersed into the water.
"To start off I had a different method that wasn't overly successful, and this is what we ended up," he said.
He said the idea with the rash vest had been used a few times with hatchlings. […]
"I had to scale it up and adjust a little bit for my purposes.
"Basically it's a full-size second hand rash vest adapted to sit on the shell of the turtle with a small opening with the tail and the nappy to attach to collect the faeces."
Coffee and his colleagues are using these fecal samples to study the diets of the loggerheads.
I’ve never seen a pet pay the least bit of attention to TV when all we had were cathode-ray tubes. Flat screens are a completely different story. Cats and dogs actually watch flatscreen TVs, computer monitors, tablets, and phones. But that’s not all that featured in this compilation from The Pet Collective.

RuPaul's Drag Race has proven that fierce divas rockin' major style can still have a sense of humor about themselves, and the show features some of the most flamboyant drag queens in the world.
It's a good thing RuPaul and the Drag Race squad have a good sense of humor because the Instagram feed RuPaw's Drag Race is rivaling their fierceness and proving that furry can be absolutely fabulous.
RuPaw's Drag Race features a feline model with lots of moxie dressed in the finest "handmade kitty queen couture", and if the RuPaw's crew ever land a series on Animal Planet RuPaul is in trouble!
He goes from a polite nudge to full-on attack when she doesn't take a hint. Does the cat just not like flute music, or does he think she’s not good at it? Honestly, she’s a pretty decent player. She may have to go practice out in the garage. -via Tastefully Offensive
Bentley the bulldog is one talented canine. In this footage, to the tune of Billie Jean by The Gloved One himself, Bentley does a celebratory moonwalk after nabbing his favorite airplane toy.

Recently, Teressa Cee, a dancer for the Miami Heat basketball team, was visiting the Blue Lagoon Island resort in the Bahamas. While lounging on a floating platform, she asked a man to hold her phone for a moment. He accidentally dropped it into the water.
When I took one of my dogs to obedience school at the Humane Society, one piece of wisdom the instructor imparted was "Remember, dogs don't speak English." It seemed like he was stating the obvious at the time, but soon it became clear how many humans scream English at animals, as if they expect them to understand exactly what they're saying.
I was reminded of that piece of advice as I watched this video of an Alaskan black bear munching on this woman's kayak. Is it wrong that the longer she yelled, the more I began to root for the bear? Yes, I know it's wrong. She had every reason to be scared and worried about being stranded. The woman wrote this about her experience,
"During a solo kayak trip, intended to go from from Ketchikan, Alaska to Petersburg, Alask, a bear attacked my kayak. This incident occurred outside of a US Forest Service cabin in Berg Bay, Wrangell District, Alaska. I had just carried my tent, food, and all my gear into the cabin to dry while I went on a 4 mile hike that begins just behind the cabin. I heard something outside as I ate my lunch, and well, I never got to go on that hike. This video is taken 5 minutes after the attack began, he continued to gnaw on it for another 5 or 10 after the video ends. Shortly after the bear left and I drug the kayak back to the cabin door step. Then I swam to the S/V anchored in the bay. They did not have their radio on and I feared I would be stranded! The German flagged S/v Caledonia took me and my things to Wrangell where I am trying to repair my kayak now."

Nana, the adorable pit bull terrier pictured above, sadly suffered years of abuse by her former owners. Estimated to have given birth to as many as 15 litters of puppies, she was obviously viewed as a breeding tool and not much else. Nana's teeth were pulled and her ears were removed. The severing of her ears caused medical problems such as polyps and fungus. Nana is now deaf as a result of the necessary medical treatment. Eventually, the abusers dropped the dog off at an animal shelter; she was soon adopted by a selfless, compassionate woman named Stephanie Doris.
Once Doris came into Nana's life, the dog began to know love and tender care. Doris said in an interview with The Huffington Post,
"To this day, I cannot explain what sparked me to impulsively apply to foster her. What I do know, though, is that it was one of the best decisions I have made. Even though I will never understand why or how they could treat a dog like that, especially a dog as sweet, as innocent and as gentle as Nana, I am thankful they surrendered her. Otherwise, she would not be with me now. She has forgiven humans and, in a sense, I have forgiven, too."

The cats from Breaking Cat News (previously at Neatorama) explain how cats wind up in animal shelters, and why some of them don’t get adopted. To illustrate, they follow five different cats who become homeless for five different reasons. At least 95% of those who read the whole story will need a hankie before it’s over, so be warned before you begin. But these cats have happy endings. So many shelter cats don’t. -via Metafilter
