Cat Collapses Sochi Arena Ceiling

(YouTube link)

The Adler Arena Skating Center in Sochi is the building where the Olympic speed skating competition takes place. The building was completed in 2012. However, you have to wonder how well it’s constructed when a five-pound-or-so cat walking around in the ceiling causes it to collapse and takes a bunch of ceiling panels with it. This security footage is from October, so the incident has no doubt been dealt with and repaired. The cat appears to have made a clean getaway. -via Daily Picks and Flicks

This is completely and utterly the most amazing glasswork I have ever seen. Before I read the title I thought the flower was real. How can that be glass? What an artisan in the truest sense of the word.

I went and saw pieces of the collection at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. Truly amazing glasswork, and definitely worth seeing in person.

This exhibit is worth seeing, if you're in Boston. It's amazing the amount of skill and patience that went into making the pieces. And it's quite a large collection. Really incredible.
