Moon Destroyer - The Cheesiest Mashup Ever!

Moon Destroyer by Jim Murrin

The Sith made great villains for a minute, but then their broody Emo schtick got a bit tiresome for audiences- so they were sent away to a silly cinematic universe full of sight gags and slapstick comedy. Darth hated this transition at first, but after a while he started to get in to his new role because he could smack down any character he wanted- even the Emperor. And as the sequels rolled on, and Vader became a slapstick comedy star, his bloodlust and desire to wage war began to wane. But then some wacky writer came up with the bright idea for a short involving Vader's star destroyer getting stuck in the moon, and all that pent up Sith anger came bubbling to the surface once again...

Give people an eyeful of funny everywhere you go with this Moon Destroyer t-shirt by Jim Murrin, it's an instant classic that's sure to make you smile every time you slip it on!

Questions for Deep Thinkers

Some question force you to employ your sense of logic, ethics, and/or ability to see a topic from all sides. These questions range from the metaphysical (What is the meaning of life?) to the practical (Is a hot dog a sandwich?) to ridiculous scenarios and even questions that might hit home and help you to better know yourself. The new book Questions for Deep Thinkers: 200+ of the Most Challenging Questions You (Probably) Never Thought to Ask by Henry Kraemer and Brandon Marcus contains 250 such questions, with a philosophical and humorous look at both sides of each conundrum. Enjoy this sneak peek at the book.

Social Sciences for Deep Thinkers

Deep thinkers need social sciences to survive. The deeper you climb inside your own head, the harder it becomes to do social things, such as going outside in the daytime, making eye contact with your personal magician, or ordering food without pointing to your open mouth. Luckily, you have this chapter to guide you through the mysteries of social life. You just might uncover the secrets behind human behavior as you ponder the questions found here, such as the benefits of solid food versus baby food and whether or not you should feel awkward when you think about former child stars aging into attractive adults. Open your mind to the sweet science of society and become the best psycho-socio-economist on your block!

Is it more acceptable for a human being to eat a dolphin or for a pig to eat a human?

Internet Savvy

We all have our guilty pleasures. Still, it's a good idea to be up on all the different warning signs of clickbait. Once you are able to recognize them for what they are, the choice to indulge is totally yours. What is crappy content to one person might be just what another person is looking for. Just don't take the stuff you see on the internet too seriously. This is the latest comic from Jeff Lovfers at Don't Hit Save.

The Weirdest Winter Olympic Events We No Longer Play

People who live in nations that deal with ice and snow have come up with a lot more ways to get around than simply skiing, skating, and sledding. The Winter Olympics could have a bunch more events if they'd include those many other activities, like snowmobiling and dogsledding. Some of the odder sports have been included in Olympics past, often as exhibition sports. Remember skijoring?

Skijoring is a race in which skiers hang on to the reins of a horse (or dog) and get pulled along over the ice and snow. It only showed up as a demonstration sport once at the 1928 Winter Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where participants raced each other with horses over a frozen lake.

Skijoring is still practiced today with both horses and dogs in Europe and North America. The dog version looks a bit like a combination of two other events that have made the Olympics: Cross-country skiing, which is an official medal event; and dog sledding, which also appeared as a demonstration sport at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.

Even though it isn't an Olympic sport, skijoring still has competitions. Read about other snow sports that won't be included the Winter Games at National Geographic News.

LEGO Zombie Invasion

It's a horde of LEGO zombies coming to get us! What carnage will we see?

(YouTube link)

This short sequence moves pretty fast, and may remind you of the movie World War Z up to a point. A ridiculous point. Animator Nicholas King (Nixolas) says,

Not sure if I could take LEGO Zombies seriously... But I'm not about to clean up this mess.

157 New Emojis for 2018

New emojis coming soon include a wider range of faces and skin colors, including bald heads. There will be more household objects, so the slide into a complete pictogram language is coming to pass. The new group includes 157 new emojis, bringing the total to 2,823. But the best ones are the new superheros and villains.

Perhaps to use when constructing narratives in conjunction with the above, there’s also goggles and a lab coat and a test tube, a potentially evil microbe, a mosquito (for sure evil), a raccoon (for Rocket; also: pure evil), a newly bald man (Lex Luthor), and an infinity symbol so you can stop typing out “Infinity War” all the damn time.

These images are all samples, meaning that they could be altered somewhat by the time they hit your phone, but chances are you’ll be seeing these emojis released in 2018.

The Best Air-Cleaning Plants For Your House According To NASA

Houseplants not only add a splash of color and life to your home's interior space- they help purify the air in your house, cleaning pollutants and chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde and ammonia out of the air.

NASA researchers were looking for the perfect plants to help filter the air in space stations when they created A Study of Interior Landscape Plants for Indoor Air Pollution Abatement, which is very informative but a bit dry to read.

So Love The Garden created this colorful infographic complete with visual references to help us easily understand NASA's research and pick the perfect houseplants for our homes. Looks like I've got some fern shopping to do!

Meet British Columbia's Snow-Shovelling, Beer-Fetching, Vacuuming Dog

What does your dog do to help around the house? Bark when the mailman comes? Morgan is a 6-year-old Newfoundland who has mastered a variety of useful tasks, including running a snowblower. It's a step up for her, as she was previously clearing snow with a mere shovel.

(YouTube link)

"She has a number of tricks she does, she can cook hotdogs on fires, she can get beverages out of coolers, she can go in the fridge and get a beer for me ... and she vacuums," said Morgan's owner, Dean Edwards of Sunnybrae, near Salmon Arm, B.C.

Morgan will even close the fridge door behind her and throw away empty cans when you're finished drinking, Edwards says.

Morgan is a championship show dog and a certified therapy dog. She's been in training for various jobs since she was a puppy. Read more about Morgan at CBC News. -via Metafilter

Hilarious Moments From The Insanity That Is Tinder

The concept behind Tinder is a bit bonkers if you think about it, because choosing between hundreds of daters based on one pic and a simple profile seems like a surefire way to hook up with nothing but shallow people and nutjobs.

But some daters on Tinder have discovered they can avoid getting matched with shallow and boring people by making their profile as wacky, nerdy or bizarre as possible.

That way they're matched with people who have a similar sense of humor more often, so chatting with their matches will be more comfortable and more fun, and if you're not having fun on Tinder then you're doing it wrong.

Mushroom Princess - Something's Not Quite Right About That Plumber...

Mushroom Princess by Geekydog

When Mario's creators started working on his Super Bros series of games they originally wanted to go with a more realistic version of Mario, so they developed a version of the Bros we never got to see. In it Mario and Luigi were more like barbarians than plumbers, they rode massive dinosaur steeds that were later turned into Mario's cute dino friend Yoshi and instead of a damsel in distress Princess Peach was a fierce shield maiden sworn to seek revenge against the dragon Bowser for killing her family. This badass version of Mario sounds like it would have been pretty cool to play, but judging by this design the whole thing may be nothing but a fable told by that brat Link!

Show the world how Mario could have looked with this Mushroom Princess t-shirt by GeekyDog, it's an imaginatively alternative way to show love for your favorite video game heroes Mario, Yoshi- and Link too!

The Lost Sequel to Good Morning Vietnam

The 1987 Robin Williams movie Good Morning Vietnam was loosely based on the story of Adrian Cronauer, a radio deejay in Saigon. The project was started in 1979, but delayed for almost a decade because America wasn't yet ready for a comedy about the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, Robin Williams became involved and ran with the project. The finished movie was less Cronauer and more Williams, but it was a big hit. Cronauer was ready to supply a sequel, also based on his life.

The real-life Adrian Cronauer – who Levinson had kept Williams apart from until the film had been shot – still had much story to tell. As such the follow-up film would have followed him as a journalist, this time at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. It would have been set in 1968, and the proposed title was Good Morning, Chicago. The political setting was particularly interesting, given that Adrian Cronauer has described himself as “a lifelong card-carrying Republican” who campaigned for the likes of George W. Bush.

Furthermore, the 1968 convention saw a clash between 10,000 anti-war demonstrators and 23,000 police and national guardsman. Violent clashes ensued, including an infamous police assault in front of the Hilton hotel, on August 28th, 1968. At the convention itself, serving vice-President Hubert Humphrey was endorsed as the Democratic candidate for President, and he would lose the eventual election to Richard Nixon.

It was against the background of the event that Good Morning, Chicago was to be set.

Read more about the sequel that never was at Den of Geek.

Making Bread Without A Recipe

Bread at its most basic is made with flour, water, yeast and salt, and once you've made bread a few times you can easily identify the proper consistency and add more flour or water as needed.

But making bread from scratch without a recipe, and with little to no prior baking experience, sounds like a recipe for disaster, so can The Try Guys make an edible loaf of bread when left to their own devices in BuzzFeed's Tasty Kitchen?

It's like the Great American Bake-Off only with less impressive results and with way more alcohol! (NSFW Language)
