Fried Fair Food Meets Thanksgiving

The Texas State Fair in Dallas runs through October 20th. One advantage of being so far south and having your agricultural fair so late in the year is that your deep-fried fair food can be inspired by autumn holidays. Behold, the Fried Thanksgiving Dinner! It's turkey meat mixed with stuffing rolled into a ball, which is dipped in cream corn, then rolled in cornmeal, and deep fried. These balls are served with two dipping sauces: gravy and cranberry.

The dish won the Most Creative award in the Big Tex Choice Awards, the fair competition that spurs chefs to go all out. Other competitors included fried spaghetti and meatballs, fried Nutella, deep-fried Cuban roll (which won the award for the tastiest dish), fried pimento cheese, chicken-fried meatloaf, and fried millionaire pie. I want that pie. Get a rundown of the different fried creations at Gizmodo.
