Star Wars Carnival Procession

(YouTube link)

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus isn’t the only group bringing Star Wars to pre-Lenten festivities! The Jedi Knights of the New Hope were recorded participating in a Carnival parade in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, Spain. A unit of Storm Troopers guard a huge Millennium Falcon float, which is not canon, but who cares?

At Daily Picks and Flicks, you can watch a second, nighttime procession that includes a routine of the Storm Troopers dancing to Michael Jackson. There are plenty of other clips of the group linked at the YouTube page, if you are interested. I particularly like this one of Darth Vader dancing.

Animated Short Set In Post-Apocalyptic Brooklyn - Fathoms

(Video Link)

Animator Joe Russ drew inspiration for his epic length CGI short Fathoms from his father’s untimely death due to cancer when Joe was only seventeen, he drew the funds to complete the film from a successful Kickstarter campaign, and he drew, and animated, and created over a six year period, working mostly on nights and weekends, until he'd finished this heartfelt project.

Fathoms is a touching, relatable and beautifully melancholic short film about “Sam, Evan, and Hippo the cat as they struggle to survive and find meaning in a flooded world haunted by remnants of the past”, and with a total runtime of just under twenty minutes you're going to have to set some time aside to watch this one, but believe me-it's worth it.

Soviet Hobbit Illustrations

A 1976 edition of The Hobbit published in the Soviet Union has illustrations by M. Belomlinskij. They reflect the style of the time, although they also somewhat resemble woodcuts. Of course, you are familiar enough with the characters that you recognize them even without the text, which would be in Russian anyway. See more illustrations at Retronaut. -via mental_floss

B-Roll Footage From The Muppets Most Wanted

(Video Link)

The Muppets Most Wanted is about to hit theaters, treating legions of puppet loving people to a new big screen adventure starring their favorite fleece covered friends.

Filming an epic movie like The Muppets Most Wanted means lots of B-roll footage and scenes removed from the final edit of the film, and for fans of the filmmaking process these unused scenes give us insight into the entire process, and shows how a scene starring a puppet actually comes together.

But since this is actual B-roll footage from the film there are all kinds of spoilers, so don’t watch if you’re worried about spoilers ruining your Muppet movie viewing experience, just come back and watch the clips after you've seen the film!

Corporate Lifestyle Simulator Is A Video Game, Not A Corporate Lifestyle Simulator

(Video Link)

Working a desk job can make some folks go absolutely batty, or it can turn you into a mindless zombie who shuffles through the day watching the clock until quitting time. But for a few sturdy individuals the office worker’s life can transform you from a cubicle jockey to a real fireaxe wielding hero.

The office is ground zero for the zombie apocalypse in a quirky little game called Corporate Lifestyle Simulator, which was created by game designer Big Nic, and you must battle your way through zombified office workers, the bosses and what looks like a giant desk monster if you're ever going to get around to taking your lunch break.

Yoshi started out as a sideline character in Mario related titles like Super Mario World and Mario Kart, but his charm and good looks made him an instant hit with gamers on both sides of the bathroom wars, and soon Yoshi started having titles of his own.

Yoshi’s Island, Yoshi’s Safari and Yoshi’s Cookie are just a few of the dozen-or-so games which have starred the smiley anthropomorphic dinosaur with the powerful stomp and long sticky tongue, and yet with all the success this little guy has enjoyed over the years we know very little about his origin story.

Read on to find out fifteen fascinating facts about Mario's dinosaur pal Yoshi, just in time for the release of Yoshi's New Island for the Nintendo 3DS.

Wonder Woman Wedding Heels and Garter

Etsy seller DeathStarDoll makes geeky fashions with an emphasis on Star Wars and Wonder Woman. These matching heels and garter are prefect for a superhero wedding.

The garter is part of an American wedding tradition. At the reception, the groom removes the garter from his bride's leg, then throws it into the air. The man who catches it will, according to superstition, be the next man present to get married.

It works! At my wedding, there was only one single man present--the officiating minister. I forced the garter into his hand. Two weeks later, he met the woman that he would later marry.

Minimalist Animated Intro For Game Of Thrones

(Video Link)

The hit show Game of Thrones is as popular, if not more popular, than George R.R. Martin’s book series that inspired the show, and fans are gearing up for another dose of grim fantasy in the upcoming fourth season.

But if you can't remember where all the characters are in the world of Westeros and Essos you may want to consult this minimalist intro that’s also a handy guide to every character’s current location, which was created by student animators Mathilde Loubes, Jory Bertrand and Alison Dulou from Atelier de Sevre in Paris, France.

The overall design scheme is simple yet elegant, and the only problem with this intro is they've identified everyone by their real names so unless you know the actor that plays every character by name you may still be a bit lost.
