Tom And Jerry Short Remade With CGI Anime Girls

(Video Link)

Classic animated series like Tom & Jerry are often studied by animation students so they have a better understanding about timing, staging, and character animation.

The short in this particular study is Down Beat Bear from MGM, 1956, which is heavy on the musical numbers and just the thing to show off your sense of timing as an animator, and the cutesy characters on the anime side are from a video game series called Touhou Project.

This surreal side-by-side short was created by YouTube user dfj688 using an animation program called MikuMikuDance, which explains all the dancing but very little else about this strange project.

TMNT Movie Trailer Spawns The Michaelangelo Meme

(Image Via Awkward Elevator)

A trailer for Michael Bay's controversial Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot movie finally made its way onto the interwebs this week, and while it relieved some of the anxiety felt by fans of the franchise it also created a whole new meme- the Michaelangelo.

Mike’s odd appearance in the trailer was immediately likened to that of Shrek, then other folks jumped on board the Michaelangelo meme train and created some hilarious visual masterpieces sure to make net surfers say cowabunga.

Got a Michaelangelo meme of your own design? Post it in the comments section!

Wolverine The Musical

(YouTube link)

Hugh Jackman visited the Matt Edmondson Show on BBC Radio and sang about playing the part of Wolverine. The song is based on “Who Am I” from Les Miserables, with new superhero lyrics. Jackman was a good sport about it, and with a little more practice, could have pulled this off on stage in front of a crowd. -via Viral Viral Videos

Darth Vader Running for President of Ukraine

The transitional government of Ukraine has scheduled national elections for May 25, and so far there are 14 candidates running for the office of president. The latest to throw his hat into the ring is Darth Vader.

Mr. Vader was nominated by the Internet Party of Ukraine, notes Voice of Russia via Interfax. The Central Election Commission of Ukraine confirmed Darth Vader’s entry into the race. A complete application along with the required 2.5 million hryvni as a monetary deposit were submitted Saturday.

The fee of 2.5 million hryvni is over $200,000 US, so someone is serious about this candidacy. Of course, with Ukraine under threat from Russia, they could really use a president with experience in imperialism and rebellion. The deadline for filing for the office is Sunday.

What You Wish Would Happen on The Walking Dead

(YouTube link)

This video contains spoilers if you aren’t current on The Walking Dead. College Humor calls this a “wish fulfillment” scenario -or several of them, actually, introducing elements that would make the show even more over-the-top ridiculous than it already is, but we’d love to see them. I could totally believe that Michonne is 300 years old. -via Laughing Squid

Painting of Spock Luxuriating in a Pile of Tribbles

It's been a long, hard day. It's been especially challenging because Spock is on a ship full of illogical humans. When his work is done, Spock knows how to take care of himself. He puts on some soft jazz, takes off his boots and slips into his giant pile of tribbles.

The tribbles are responsive. They trill softly, rhythmically, like a white noise machine. Sleep comes easily to Spock in this painting by Cameron Kobe.

No other superhero has had as many imitators, incarnations or variations as that wisecracking webhead Spider-Man, and even though it’s hard to keep track of all the men and women who have donned the Spidey suit it’s easy to see why Marvel loves coming up with new versions of their most popular hero.

Series writer Dan Slott revealed an upcoming series event called Spider-Verse which will feature “every Spider-Man from every universe” in one big ol’ web slinging bonanza that will start in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man and expand across multiple titles. PBS Off Book Examines The Rise Of Video Game Economies

(Video Link)

The billion dollar virtual economies created by massively multiplayer online video games are something very few people saw coming in the 80s, when video games were just beginning to hold their own against other popular forms of media.

Even more surprising is how fast these virtual economies sprang up, and how people around the world are now making a living farming for loot in video games like World of Warcraft and EVE Online.

This episode of the PBS series Off Book focuses on the strange virtual economies created by video games, and how this internal economic snafu has become quite a headache for both the game studios and international law enforcement officials. Dern gold farmers, dey tuker jobs!

First Episode Of Machinima's New Sci-Fi Web Series ENORMOUS

(Video Link)

Enormous is a web series with a mighty big name to live up to, and a highly competitive online market full of quality productions to vie against for viewers, but the Machinima and Prime Universe Films production looks like it might live up to its monicker.

Enormous tells a different kind of post apocalyptic tale- the world is overrun by monsters, and the remaining human survivors have to fight for survival or risk becoming a pile of critter crap.

It suffers from the usual first episode problems, namely generic dialog, slow pacing and actors still becoming familiar with their roles, but these problems are sure to be ironed out as the series gathers steam.
