The Most Inexplicable Mashup Ever

(YouTube link)

Could you possibly think of more odd pairing for a video mashup than Batman and the worst movie ever made, The Room? Patrick Willems wondered what the result would be if Tommy Wiseau, the man responsible for The Room, produced the next Batman movie.

It must have been drugs or something that prompted such a question. It’s like making a pop culture mashup by drawing a name from each of two hats, which were filled with slips of paper by beings from two different planets. That said, he ran with the idea, and Jake Torpey, the guy playing Wiseau, is uncannily accurate except for speaking a bit more clearly than Wiseau ever did. -via Uproxx

Rejected Characters from the New Star Wars Movie

(The Joy of Tech)

You're right, Jar Jar. We need you back, if for no other reason than to kill these other characters.

So The Joy of Tech calls these characters rejected? I think that all it has done has given J.J. Abrams several terrible ideas.

But we can be reasonably sure that Abrams would have eventually come up with Glinty on his own.

Behind The Scenes Movie Photos You Can't Unsee

Behind the scenes photos from classic movies are a fun way for fans to learn more about the production process involved in making their favorite flicks, but when those photos present a disillusioning side of the Hollywood machine those fans may want to tear down their posters and put up pictures of their favorite cartoon characters!

It may be a bit disappointing to find out that Marlon Brando didn't memorize his lines so he needed cue cards, or that the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man was actually a miniature puppet and not a giant guy in a rubber suit (shocking, right?!) but that's why they call it movie magic!

Reimagining the Stormtrooper Helmet for Star Wars Day

(Reaper by Ken Nelson, The Commander by Danny Osterman, Eleventh Dimension by Sugar Coated)

Cincinnati asked artists to decorate pigs, Chicago did the same with cows, Lexington used horses, and now a galaxy far, far away has invited artists to use Stormtrooper helmets as an art medium for a Star Wars Day art exhibit.

Lucasfilm, Disney Consumer Products, and Neff announced today the upcoming Star Wars Legion exhibition. Artists from across The Walt Disney Company including Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, Marvel, and Pixar -- as well as select street artists chosen by Neff, and celebrity Star Wars fans -- have volunteered to create individualized interpretations of the iconic Stormtrooper helmet in celebration of the global fan holiday, Star Wars Day, or May the 4th.

The altered helmets will be on display May 2-4 at the Robert Vargas Gallery in Los Angeles (free admission!) and even if you can’t make it, you can see a nice selection of them at Laughing Squid.

Japan Thinks the New Godzilla is Too Fat

It was a long time between the first trailer for the new Godzilla film and the latest, in which we finally get a good look at the monster. So how does he stack up? Movie fans on the Japanese forum 2chan think he’s, well, overweight. And internet commenters aren't above a bit of fat-shaming.

Did he get fat?

His neck looks like an American football athlete's.

Is this Sin from Final Fantasy X?

Out of shape Godzilla

He's gone Supersize Me.

There’s more, and at least one Godzilla artist has a counter-argument at Kotaku. Godzilla opens May 16th in the U.S. -via Uproxx

My Neighbor Totoro Gourd Clock

This is brilliant! Etsy seller Laurie Marin makes geeky gourds, especially ones with anime themes. She found a gourd that looks just like the body of Totoro--especially after she scrubbed, finished, burned, and dyed it. Her Totoro sculpture is a built-in electric clock which is powered by a single AA battery. It's beautiful.

Death Star Gown

Step aside, Boba Fett in a ball gown- Here’s a Death Star in formalwear!

The Badlands Garrison of the 501st Legion Tweeted this picture taken at their booth at the Calgary Expo. It was quite a hit! The maker (and model), Deathstargirl, came to the Badlands Garrison forum to tell us more about the dress.

The outer layer of gray is actually double layered....it has about 900 foam tiles on it, 250 LED light, 12ft of EL wire...and I really couldn't guess how much it weighs...but let me tell you this...it takes 9 "D" batteries to power the lights...and I broke 2 plastic hangers to hold it up....so you can imagine how much fun it is to put into the car...

What really impressed me was her Star Destroyer handbag, which she made! See more pictures of the dress at the forum. -via Geeks Are Sexy
