Snow Knows

The Game of Thrones character Jon Snow may have his life and all his body parts (so far in the series), but horrible things happen to him anyway. They all add to his melancholy, which should make his character totally depressing if Kit Harrington weren’t so cute behind all that sorrow. Ygritte was famous for saying, “You know nothing, Jon Snow.” And that phrase pretty much explains everything that happens to the character, and has become a catchphrase among Game of Thrones fans.

The Avengers As Mythological Chinese Immortals

There are Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology and while their stories are pretty darn fascinating, I can't help but want to hear some of the amazing myths about the eight Avenger immortals painted by Chinese Illustrator and Weibo user Xia-a

The choice of which Avenger fills the role of which Immortal isn't just random. For example, He Xiangu is Black Widow, which is appropriate because "He Xiangu is the only female among the Eight Immortals, as Black Widow is among the Avengers. She is often seen with lotus flowers.”

Feudal Star Wars Japan Tattoo

This man sports an impressive full-back tattoo that shows Star Wars characters in a style reminiscent of a Japan from long ago. Darth Vader battles Luke Skywalker in what appears to be their climactic duel at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. Princess Leia appears to be reading plans for the Death Star while R2-D2 looks on.

Characters from other shows appear, as well. Ignigokt and Err from Aqua Teen Hunger Force and a sandworm from Dune are on the right arm.

Eddie Stacey of Ink & Dagger Tattoo in Roswell, Georgia made this tattoo.

Horrifying Prehistoric Creatures That Aren't Dinosaurs

If you're scared of snakes then you certainly wouldn't be a big fan of the Titanoboa -the largest snake in history. This creepy critter stretched out 40 feet in length and weighed up to 2,500 pounds. The Titanoboa  appeared right as the dinosaurs started to disappear, which left it a great niche to fill as a top predator. I've heard rumors of man-eating snakes, but all of those have proven to be fictional -on the other hand, this guy could easily munch down on a man.

The Story of the Indiana Jones Bridge Scene

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences is presenting a series of videos called Academy Originals with some Hollywood stories.

(YouTube link)

In this video, Special Effects Supervisor George Gibbs tells the story of that bridge scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. They could only do it once, so it had to be perfect. Well, I guess they could have redone it if they had to, but that would add days and dollars to the film shoot. Oh, and in case you're wondering, a Bailey bridge is a temporary bridge. I knew that, because when the bridge in my hometown collapsed around 1970, a Bailey bridge was the only way through for a good ten years. -via the A.V. Club

Sesame Street: Game of Chairs

If you ever considered that the battle for the Iron Throne on the TV show Game of Thrones resembled a game of musical chairs, you aren’t the only one. That’s how the folks at Sesame Street interpret it, and that game is what happens in their latest parody video. Grover Bluejoy is tasked with running the game, and a Muppet that resembles Ned Stark with a slight Scottish accent plays the master of ceremonies. Notice the thrones are made of sports equipment, including one made of irons.

TARSplay

You know Iain Heath as Ochre Jelly, the LEGO artist who brings us brick versions of celebrities and internet memes. But Heath is branching out into the world of video and cosplay. He picked a big project for this one! Heath recreated the robot TARS from the movie Interstellar. And not just as a sculpture, but as a walking replica that can be used as a costume.

(YouTube link)

TARS was unveiled at Emerald City Comic Con in March 2015, where it interacted with the public and even won Heath the "One To Watch" award at the convention's annual costume contest.

Requiring over 100 man hours to construct, the replica weighs 40 lbs (a mere fifth of the one in the movie) and uses two iPads to recreate TARS' computer readouts. To allow the operator to interact with their surroundings, the aluminum-clad wooden frame includes a camera, LCD screen, audio amplifier, and head set.

As you can see, the folks at Emerald City enjoyed interacting with TARS. Heath plans to take it to several more conventions this year, so keep your eye out for it! -Thanks, Iain!

Technically Speaking, Wonder Woman Is Bulletproof

She's not as invulnerable as Superman, but small arms fire can't hurt her a bit. It just . . . nudges her. A little bit. Enough to be noticeable. And enough to annoy her.

Photoshop artist Kerry Callen rewrites classic comic books to show funny scenes. In the past, he's created animated .gifs of famous covers, depicted Batman as a hoarder, and shown what Superman is trying to do in his first appearance.

How The Millennium Falcon Fits Into Star Wars

The Millennium Falcon is one of the most iconic starships in the history of science fiction, and both its overall look and the role it played in the original trilogy’s storyline influenced the role starships played in many sci-fi movies to come.

Han’s iconic smuggler ship has been commemorated and brought to life as toys, model kits, beds, cake molds, and countless DIY projects, and even though it’s not as shiny as other sci-fi ships it’s definitely an integral part of the Star Wars universe.

This detailed graphic lays out all the ways the Millennium Falcon played in to the original trilogy (and its brief appearance in Episode III), and even if you already know
