Fun Behind-The-Scenes Seinfeld Stories

It's hard to believe that Jerry Seinfeld just turned 61, but iit's true. In celebration of his birthday, the Huffington Post rounded up a great collection of 11 facts about the show that made him a legend. If you're a fan of the show, you may have heard a few of these trivia tidbits (the Festivus and Junior Mint facts have been circulated for years), but chances are that at least a few will be new to you.

For example, one of the most legendary episodes, where Elaine showed off her sweet dancing skills, was opposed by both Larry David and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Also, the Soup Nazi episode really peeved off the chef who inspired the character -to the point where Jerry Seinfeld had to send his girlfriend to get him soup afterwards because he would no longer serve Jerry.

Turning Real Women Into Disney Princesses

Animators and character designers need to take certain liberties with the human forms they draw for animated features, stylizing and modifying the figure to give the characters more visual interest.

That’s why real life humans shouldn’t be held to the beauty standards of your average animated humanoid, and why most cartoon characters would look absolutely horrifying as flesh and blood folks.

The lovely ladies at BuzzFeed decided to undergo a lil' Photoshopping to show the world what they would look like as real life Disney princesses, and the results are eye opening...literally!

This Is What Real Girls Would Look Like As Disney Princesses

Don’t Meep. Meep and You’re Dead!

It’s a Meeping Angel from Doctor Who! Don’t blink. Don’t even blink. Blink and you’re dead.

Krypton Radio has a Beaker action figure that only the Doctor (specifically, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew) can defeat. Don’t underestimate him. Beaker moves incredibly fast when he wants to.

This Coffee Table Is a Working R2-D2 Pinball Machine

Excuse me, sir, but this coffee table is in prime condition. Inside its molded body that looks like the colors and lines of the original R2-D2 are the guts of a Star Wars pinball machine from 1991. It has external lights and sound effects from our favorite droid, as well as a light that resembles Artoo's holographic projector.

It's made by ALTAR Furniture, a company that gives new life to old pinball machines by placing them inside stylish coffee tables. It's on sale for about $13,000.

Photos of Mark Hamill’s Family Visiting the Set of Return of the Jedi

Mark Hamill, the actor who played Luke Skywalker, brought his family to the set of Return of the Jedi in 1983. His wife and his son had a lot of fun with the props and costumes.  Hamill recently displayed the photos at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Anaheim.

Young Nathan Hamill found that R2-D2 offered a great hiding spot and that Yoda’s hut was just the right size for him. You can see more photos here.

An Assortment Of Sinfully Strange Subcultures

Strange subcultures are constantly rising to the surface amidst the sea of people floating through life in Mundania, but only a select few become an island of individuality.

Most subcultures spring up around a particular kind of music, era of history or style of dress, but the internet has brought a whole new level of strangeness to subcultures.

For instance, there’s an entire group of people with their own website dedicated to every single thing this guy does:

And if you spend enough time online you might come across the colorful kooks who are part of the Ship Of Fools, the self proclaimed "magazine of Christian unrest" who are obviously big fans of Ned Flanders

The Shining as a Retro Atari Game

Let’s Play: The Shining is an Atari-style video game by Pippin Barr. Drive up to the Overlook Hotel, take a walk through the maze, bounce things off the wall because you’re bored, deal with writer’s block, ride your Big Wheel down the corridors, and defend yourself against an axe murderer.

I can’t say the gameplay is all that exciting, but it’s certainly faithful to the film. You can read about the game development in a couple of posts at Pippin Barr’s blog. -via Daily of the Day

Cool Facts You Might Not Know About Disney Parks

We at Neatorama love Disney and have featured a lot of trivia about the Disney parks, but even with all the coverage we've done, I was happily surprised to see that this cool Travel and Leisure article actually had quite a few facts that even I hadn't read about yet.

For example, did you know that the clothing worn by the presidents in the Hall of Presidents not only looks period appropriate, but were even made in a period appropriate manner? Or that the Disneyland Railroad is ran on French fry oil? And as for those pesky wait times:

Cribbing a page from airlines’ standard operating procedure about flight times, posted wait times for rides are intentional lies. According to a Walt Disney World cast member on a seven-hour Backstage Magic tour, management overestimates by five or 10 minutes so that guests are "pushed" at different areas while also coming away from rides with a warm impression of exceeded expectations.

10 Mind Blowing Facts About AKIRA

No animated feature ever made can compare to AKIRA in terms of illustrative detail, mature storyline and originality.

Now that might just be my humble opinion, but it’s an opinion shared by many fans of animation (and more specifically anime), and AKIRA has become much more than just a fine example of early anime- it has become the standard by which an animated feature’s style and story are judged.

Katsuhiro Otomo created the AKIRA manga as homage to artist Mitsuteru Yokoyama, but by the time it made it to the big screen it had definitely taken on a life of its own, 160,000 single shots of vibrant, animated life.

What Game Of Thrones Characters Should Look Like, According To The Books

The makers of Game Of Thrones have tried to stay as faithful to George R. R. Martin's books as possible, but some changes simply must be made when a book is translated into a visual medium.

Characters are often changed to make them, and their appearance, more visually appealing to viewers, which is why that imp Tyrion Lannister is still a sympathetic character:

“Tyrion’s fingers went to the great gash that ran from above one eye down to his jaw, across what remained of his nose. The proud flesh was still raw and warm to the touch.” —A Storm of Swords

And some characters have their overall look radically altered just so their flamboyant style will flow with the overall color scheme of the show, such as the radical decolorization of Daario Naharis:

“Daario Naharis was flamboyant even for a Tyroshi. His beard was cut into three prongs and dyed blue, the same color as his eyes and the curly hair that fell to his collar. His pointed mustachios were painted gold. His clothes were all shades of yellow; a foam of Myrish lace the color of butter spilled from his collar and cuffs, his doublet was sewn with brass medallions in the shape of dandelions, and ornamental goldwork crawled up his high leather boots to his thighs.” —A Storm of Swords
