One Guy’s Reaction to the New Star Wars Trailer

Fanboys are falling all over themselves over the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And this Instagram member is no exception. The caption to this video says it all.

THE TRAILER IS JUST EEEEPPPPPPPIIIIICCCCCCC! Star Wars is back! gaaaaaad laaaaard! You know what! Let me just relax because this kind God oooo! Lmao! Seriously congrats to everyone ! December 18th!

Except for one thing- he’s not just any Star Wars fan. This is John Boyega, the 23-year-old British actor who stars as Finn in the movie. Put yourself in his place: he was only 13 when the last movie came out, and we thought we’d never get another. Now he’s the lead actor in what will be a record-breaking film that gives his generation their own Star Wars mythology. After all the work is done, he now gets to enjoy the anticipation we're all feeling. I’d be excited, too!  -via Buzzfeed

Canada’s New Prime Minister

Canada held their general election yesterday, and the new Prime Minister will be Justin Trudeau of Canada’s Liberal Party. Geeks Are Sexy took the opportunity to pull out a photograph of Trudeau being arrested by forces of the Galactic Empire at the 2012 Montreal Comic Con. Despite looking 14 years old in the picture, Trudeau is 43 (40 in this picture). Any comparisons between the Rebel Alliance and the Liberal Party will have to come from someone more familiar with Canadian politics.

Batman V Superman (1949)

What happens when too much power goes to a hero’s head? You send in another superhero! The upcoming movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice pits the two comic book icons against each other. They’ve been in movies for so long that you could put together such a movie just from old serial footage. Which is exactly what Vulture did.

(YouTube link)

Watch Superman smash chairs for no reason! Watch him push Lois Lane’s car off a cliff! Watch Batman come to the rescue! In a ragtop sedan! And a parachute! This is a movie I’d want to see.

Quebec City Comiccon Cosplay

Yan Fortin from Geeks Are Sexy got to attend a convention in his own backyard (relatively) during the Quebec City Comiccon over the weekend. It’s the second year for this con, and cosplayers came out in droves. Patrick-Michel Dagenais took plenty of pictures.

The artistry, variety, and attention to detail in the costumes is quite impressive. See dozens of them in two galleries at Geeks Are Sexy: part one and part two.

If Disney Movies Were Faithful To Their Fairy Tale Source Material

We all know classic Disney cartoons put a gentle spin on classic fairy tales, replacing the blood and death with song and dance segments to keep the content as close to G rated as possible.

But if you take a look at the original fairy tale source material you'll see that Disney chose some disturbingly violent stories to adapt.

And now, thanks to Paul Westover, illustrator extraordinaire for CollegeHumor, you can really see what they would look like if Disney Movies Were Faithful To Their Source Material, in a word- bloody. You've been warned!

An Art Show About Nothing

Here at Neatorama, we're pretty big fans of Seinfeld, which is why I couldn't be more excited about Gallery 1988's "An Art Show About Nothing."

If you love Jujyfruits, Junior Mints, Kenny Roger's Fried Chicken, pretzels that make you thirsty and soup Nazis, then you'll inevitably love the delightfully silly and whimsical art based on the long-running series.

If course, having looked at the art on the website and over at Flavorwire, I can't tell you if there's any triangle art there, but there does seem to be plenty of other great referrences in the show.

The Ten Different Types of Fallout Players

The Fallout video game franchise stays true to the roleplaying game genre by allowing players to fully customize their character as they see fit, and the series made the transition from turn-based RPG to first-person shooter RPG smoothly.

This flexibility means everybody plays Fallout their own way- choosing different tactics, weapons and perks, meaning there are hundreds, if not thousands, of different character options.

But for the sake of brevity let's just say there are ten core types of Fallout players.

Julia Lepetit drew up graphic depictions of the 10 Types Of Fallout Players for Dorkly, and it seems I'm part Hoarder, part Cartographer when I play (dull, I know). What kind of Fallout player are you?

Brick to the Future

Monsieur Caron (Previously at Neatorama) celebrates the nearing future date from Back to the Future Part Two with a LEGO version of the time-travel scene.

(YouTube link)

But look carefully at 2015. You’ll see characters from other fictional worlds. A lot of them! Blink and you might miss the TARDIS. The Ghostbusters ambulance is easier to catch, and all the townspeople seem to be from some movie or TV show. -Thanks, Monsieur Caron!

A Snapchat Story About Being Home Alone All Weekend

Being home alone for an extended period of time isn't as fun as they make it out to be in the movies, and things can get pretty weird when you have to find ways to entertain yourself in an empty house.

Lucky for you we're not talking about dirty ways to "entertain yourself" in this instance, but rather silly ways which seem to entertain Snapchat cinematographer DatsGoodForm every bit as much as the viewer.

Moral of the story- put your toys away before you do your physics homework, or those little plastic people won't leave you alone!

New Jersey Residents Are All Atwitter Over Jersey Devil Sighting

With Halloween rapidly approaching people have all kinds of scary things on their mind, which are mostly figments of their imagination, and like clockwork reports of strange sightings start rolling in.

(Image Link)

One of the most recent cryptid sightings happened in Galloway Township, New Jersey, where folks spotted a strange shape in the sky and decided it was the famed Jersey Devil taking flight.

One lucky witness named Emily Martin even captured the flight on video.

(YouTube Link)

That's very compelling footage! The still pic has people wondering what the heck that thing flapping across the skyline really is, with guesses that it's a launched goat or a squirrel falling out of a tree.

But the craziest part of this story is the fact that people are actually wondering "Jersey Devil or Halloween prank?", as if there could be any doubt!

103-Year Old Woman Cosplays as Wonder Woman

It's no wonder that people think of Mary Cotter as a Wonder Woman. Her 103rd birthday party was held at the Montclair Senior Center in Montclair, California. Ms. Cotter was busy the entire time. She's been volunteering there for 25 years and didn't see her own birthday as an excuse to slack off. She lives alone and drives her own car, so she has a mind to do what she wants at her own party. ABC News 7 reports:

Cotter says the secret to her longevity has to do with her daily routine. And it's pretty obvious if you stop and watch her for a moment.

"Just keep busy I guess," she said with a shrug.

She's been busy for years. In 1930, she helped her high school win the state swim championship. She taught swimming to children into her 60s and helped rescue sea turtles well into her 90s.

Jurassic World Trailer (1978)

If Jurassic World were made in 1978, it would star Michael Cain, Charleton Heston, and Raquel Welch. It would resemble many of the disaster films of the period. And I would have seen it a couple of times, at least.

A wealth of material from the 1970s (and a few movies from even earlier) were used in this mashup; you can find a list at the YouTube link. ChiefBrodyRules said it took him 17 weeks to put this together. -via Gamma Squad

The Ultimate Star Wars Collectible: Luke's Severed Hand

At the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader cuts off Luke Skywalker's hand in a duel. If you can find the remains of that hand, you've got the greatest of all Star Wars collectibles. I suspect you could get at auction at least a quarter of a million dollars for such a prize.

In the meantime, you can pick up the more affordable Saber Cuts #1, a custom toy made by toymaker Alessandro Randi--AKA Codec Zombie. He's made 50 plastic copies of Luke's severed hand and lightsaber.

Saber Cuts #1 is the first toy that Codec Zombie is making in a line of all limbs cut off in the Star Wars movies. Which amputated limb do you want to buy?

You Can Now Download The Soothing Sounds Of K-Mart

Do you remember shopping at K-Mart between the years of 1988 and 1992?

If so then you were gathering your goods and living that K-Mart life while soothing elevator music played through the store's PA system to announce specials and keep you shopping calmly.

If your life has felt incomplete without that "attention K-Mart shoppers" sound then you're in luck, because former K-Mart employee Mark Davis made a bunch of the original K-Mart retail tapes available to download on Archive.org.

They feature in-store advertisements and soothing sounds that will take you back to a simpler time, when that big red "K" symbolized shopping freedom.

Florida Man: The Comic

Florida Man is that ubiquitous everyman you keep hearing about in the media, whose name is almost always followed by the word "arrested" and the details of some crazy crime he committed.

He's the subject of his own Twitter page @_FloridaMan, and a few years back Mandatory hired artist Dave Rappoccio to adapt his misadventures into a series of webcomics.

Each comic features a nondescript fellow who is capable of doing just about anything, as long as it's super strange, and the illustrations really bring these oddball scenarios to life.
