Marvel movies are heading in a whole new dramatic direction with the advent of Civil War in the Marvel Universe starting with Captain America: Civil War, but good guys at odds with each other seems unheroic to say the least.

So how did Captain America and Iron Man end up on opposite sides of the fight for justice?

The Ultimate 80s Cartoon Intro

80s cartoons had a very distinct look, especially in regards to the intro sequence, and there are so many obvious similarities between shows that you could easily clip them all together into one amazing mega-show.

But licensing forbids different pop culture franchises from commingling, so we'll just have to watch the Best 80s Cartoon Intro by Jared Jeffries and imagine the ridiculous possibilities. (NSFW due to language)

Jared's ultimate intro demonstrates how important it is to give your characters a name that fits their personality, like Abra Kabastard.

Fact Checking The People V. O.J. Simpson

The FX original series The People v. O.J. Simpson has everyone talking about the OJ Simpson trial once again, and despite the show's added drama and intense performances it's as well researched as you get when it comes to crime shows.

That's because the series is based on a thoroughly researched book by Jeffrey Toobin called The Run Of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson, which shows what the people surrounding the trial were going through as well.

Take Robert Kardashian for example- the show is playing up his daughters for obvious reasons, but they're not really taking liberties when they show Rob idol worshipping OJ, nor is the part about OJ threatening to commit suicide in Kim's bedroom made up.

(YouTube Link)

But the beef between attorneys Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran is a bit of a stretch, because during the trial the real beef was between old friends Shapiro and Bailey, as Shapiro felt betrayed by his mentor.

Long Lost H.P. Lovecraft Manuscript Discovered In Magic Shop Collection

The weird horror stories written by H.P. Lovecraft were largely unappreciated while he was alive, but nowadays they're a geeky fan favorite and serve as inspiration for comics, games and toys of all kind.

But one thing Lovecraft fans weren't expecting to hear about some eighty years after Howard's death is a long lost manuscript, especially one Lovecraft had ghostwritten for Harry Houdini.

[ image could not be processed - please retry - src was http://www.neatorama.com/plugin/ajaximgupload/previewimg/visimgupload-1/1459330961?u=0.70 ]/>The Cancer Of Superstition was part of a memorabilia collection discovered in a magic shop, which seems like a very appropriate place to stash a Lovecraft manuscript, but this one's different than his other written works.

For this essay was written as a diatribe against spiritualism and superstition, and even though it has been in various collections since Houdini;s passing the essay's significance was only recently understood:

The collection bounced around after Beatrice Houdini’s death in 1943 and was never truly catalogued or ‘mined’ in all that time. The papers were never researched or inventoried,” said Potter & Potter president Gabe Fajuri. “In all that time, no one seemed to realise the significance of the manuscript.”

Fajuri said the collection was recently bought privately, and when “the new owner began sorting through the mountain of paperwork, he began putting the pieces together, and in the process discovered the manuscript and its significance”

WonderCon Kids

Look at this adorable BB-8 cosplayer! Kayla has a costume that’s both realistic and maneuverable, depending on whether you are standing or sitting. Then she meets the Xenomorph from Alien, who is really her sister.

These two were spotted at WonderCon 2016 wearing costumes by their parents William and Nikki Miyamoto, the same couple responsible for this. -via Geeks Are Sexy

The World's Largest Gathering of Doctor Who Characters

Right now everyone is buzzing about the great cosplay spotted at WonderCon, but what got overlooked in recent convention news was the world record made at La Mole Comic Con. Anyone who has ever gone to a convention knows that seeing Whovians in costumes are a common sight, but seeing 492 of them all in one place must have been one sight to see -especially when Peter Capaldi himself accepted the Guinness award for the largest gathering of Doctor Who characters in one place.

I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of this adorable young cosplayer because this will almost certainly be a record that holds up for a while and he got to be a part of it.

Gorgeous And Gruesome Paintings By Lauren Marx

Birth and death are integral parts of life on Earth, and even though many animal lovers don't want to admit or accept it animals are born killers and raised for survival by Mother Nature.

Artists who choose to focus on natural themes generally try to keep their works lighthearted and full of positivity, thinking that's what their fellow animal lovers would want, but that's not always true.

As a lifelong adorer of animals I prefer the morbid realism running rampant through the "The American Wilderness" series of paintings of Lauren Marx, representing the balance of life and death in nature better than sappy critter art ever could.

Lauren's works are a perfect blend of grotesque and beautiful, dark death motifs coupled with the bright and vibrant colors of new life as the circle continues ad infinitum.

These Crazy Haircuts Are Either Terrible Or The Future Of Cool

Bad haircuts are the unrelenting foes we encounter in our quest to reinvent ourselves by radically changing our look, catching us completely by surprise and forever changing our personal sense of style.

In fact, some hairstyles are so bad the poor soul who has fallen victim to the scissors and electric razor might be better off shaving their head and letting it grow out again from the ground floor.

Everyone has a horrible haircut tale to tell, but the measure of a hero is their ability to bounce back from a bad look and become a hirsute hero, inspiring future generations to take chances with their hairdos.

This guy took a chance and shaved the side of his head while keeping the rest long, never knowing that he was sporting the Skrillex hairstyle before it was cool.

That One Lightsaber

This video tells the story of a family through one object that is passed down from one generation to the next. So far it’s been only two generations, Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, who owned this particular lightsaber, but in the coming Star Wars movies we will learn who the next rightful owner will be. My bets are not on Kylo Ren, although he believes he is entitled to it.

(YouTube link)

That part about “Your father wanted you to have it when you’re old enough” was pure BS, but it was easier than Obi-Wan explaining how many people had been killed by that weapon. Christopher Sherwood compiled clips from a half-dozen Star Wars films to tell the story of Luke’s strangely color-changing lightsaber. -via Buzzfeed

The Many Lies Told By Joe Isuzu

There was once a bold faced liar named Joe Isuzu who starred in car commercials from 1986 to 1990, a character meant to make buyers trust Isuzu by reminding them how sleazy some car dealers can be.

Joe was played by comic actor David Leisure, a guy who really seemed to embody the role, and even though the commercials were ironic their effect on 80s pop culture was for real.

(YouTube Link)

As a young comedy geek I loved repeating Joe Isuzu lines in the schoolyard, and even though Isuzu dealerships feared poking fun at their salespeople was the wrong way to go sales spiked when Joe's ads hit the airwaves.

Mario Kart Racing Makes The Leap Into Real Life

Mario and Luigi would look really strange in real life, and their frantic Kart racing sessions would look even stranger considering all the banana peels, winged turtle shells and Bullet Bills flying around the track.

But colorful madcap silliness is the name of the game, so when wacky people decide to reenact Mario Kart in real life you can bet the whole thing is going to be an utterly ridiculous affair.

 photo mario_kart_zpsetewnw9c.gif

A group of friends from Belleville, Michigan who call themselves the Nothing To Do Crew decided to stage a backyard version of Mario Kart that included roman candles to shoot at balloons and banana peels to slip on.

(YouTube Link)

Not to be outdone, another group of merry pranksters called Base37 decided to take their Mario Kart remake to the streets, and wound up racing through a Westfield shopping mall in London on their zippy little motorized karts.

(YouTube Link)

The Base37 team encountered many shopper shaped obstacles on the track, but they're all experienced racers so they didn't wipe out or get snagged by security, escaping to race another day.

You Can Own Some of the Delightfully Gory Items Seen in Hannibal

Hannibal was a great show with a cult following and while it was cancelled (many believe before its time), you can now get your hands on some of the amazing props and wardrobe pieces from the incredibly stylistic show.

Surprisingly, there aren't as many gory items as you might imagine and most of those that are there are simply the prosthetics that were used on an actor in the film, but the crazy tableau seen up top is perhaps the most strikingly beautiful and disturbing piece in the whole auction. If you're looking for something more iconic, you'd probably prefer the wendingo bust above. Of course, if you just like Hannibal's great fashion sense, the auction is also selling many of his best clothing ensembles along with wardrobe choices of other characters as well.

The Family that Cosplays Together, Stays Together

Spoilers? We'll have to wait for more movies to know for sure. Rey and Finn are a couple, at least when it’s Comic Con time! Victor Sine took his family to the Salt Lake City ComicCon dressed as the perfect Star Wars family. Yes, they could have gotten a BBsitter, but thought it better to start their BB off right for a life of geeky cosplay -and show her off, too.

You can see more pictures at Sine’s blog That’s My Sine. -va Uproxx
