Awesome Mom Invents Decorative Hearing Aid Covers for Kids

(Photos: Lugs)

When he was 3 months old, Sarah Ivermee’s son, Freddie, was diagnosed as deaf. He later received cochlear implants, which are surgically implanted hearing aids.

When a young friend of Freddie who is also deaf refused to wear her hearing aids because they made her look different from other kids, Ivermee devised a solution. She added decorative nail stickers to make them look pretty. The little girl loved them. So Ivermee saw an opportunity. She founded Lugs, a company that makes hearing aid covers in styles that kids appreciate. They look like superheroes, cartoon characters, and animals. Ivermee tells the The Mighty that the market has been tremendously responsive:

“I get emails from professionals to thank me for what I’m doing; it just amazes me,” she told The Mighty. “People all over the world are wearing the little kits that I make in my living room; it’s unbelievable!”

Daddy Becomes the Flower Girl

(YouTube link)

No wedding is absolutely perfect, and if it were, it wouldn’t be personal or memorable. Having children as part of the ceremony is the most common way to invite “imperfection,” but whatever they do is usually adorable anyway. At this wedding, the tiny flower girl got cold feet and decided she wasn’t going to do it. So her quick-thinking and practical dad took over to get the flower petals sprinkled down the aisle. A comment at Buzzfeed summed it up well:

One of the most important parenting skills is knowing when to say ¯\(°_o)/¯. Good job, Dad!

Yep, this is one wedding that people will remember fondly.

Two-Year-Old Becomes Celebrity Foodie, Eats For Free at NYC Restaurants

A photo posted by Food Baby (@foodbabyny) on Jun 22, 2015 at 5:48pm PDT

Under the Instagram nick @FoodBabyNY, two-year-old Matthew Chau and his father Mike are tearing it up on the Instagram foodie scene, with 45,000 followers at present. Mike began posting restaurant reviews to Yelp in 2012. In 2013, Matthew made his first appearance in one of his father's food photos. It was then that a baby foodie legend was born. Said Mike,

“Even before Food Baby became what it is, I would take pictures with him in the shot because with him in the pictures, it’s funnier... I love to eat. I love to spend time with my family. And that’s what I do every day. We get to be together. I can’t ask for more than that.”

Internet fame may not win the growing family (Chau's wife is pregnant with a girl) free meals at every restaurant, but they have saved a huge amount by getting many meals comped at New York eateries. Way to eat, Food Baby!

Check out more amusing photos here at the FoodBabyNY Instagram account.

Toddler Rides a Skateboard on a Custom Sidecar

(Photo: Braden Boards)

Jared of the skateboard company Braden Boards has a little boy who loves to ride as much as his daddy does. Jett, who is now 1 and 1/2, has been riding with his father since he was just 6 months old. This sidecar-like attachment helps him do it. As this video demonstrates, the sidecar keeps the boy secure while bending and flexing with the movement of Jared's longboard.

Father's Days

The Telegraph political cartoonist Bob Moran tells the story of how he became a father for the first time. It wasn’t anything at all like he expected, and illustrating it in pictures helped him come to grips with the experience. Fathers are supposed to be heroes, right? But life doesn't always follow the script.
