A Traditional Irish Jack-o-Lantern

This traditional Irish jack-o-lantern looks more terrifying than most of the carved pumpkin's I've seen, yet somehow more faithfully represents Halloween's earthy origin.

The spooky face is carved into a turnip, then it's placed in front of the house in order to scare off the evil spirits taking flight on All Hallows Eve. It scares me and I ain't even dead yet!
