Futurama Costumes Are Like Cool Or Whatever

Adult viewers of animated television programming tend to enjoy the science fiction farce known as Futurama, and when holidays or events call for a costume some of those adult television viewers enjoy dressing up like Futurama characters so they can pose for photographs. What a quaint custom!

Vintage Magazine Ad For Halloween 3 Masks

Halloween III is the only film in the franchise that doesn't feature Michael Myers, focusing instead on an evil mask manufacturer that sells masks which are made to melt kids heads on Halloween night.

And when the movie came out replicas of the three masks-pumpkin, witch and skeleton- were sold by Don Post studios in monster mags like Fangoria, head melting chip not included.

The characters were simple so they fit in with the rest of the Halloween pantheon, but anyone who'd seen the movie must have been tickled to see kids walking around sporting these deadly head melting masks.

You Seriously Made That Sexy?

If you feel a tingling in your naughty bits when you visit the Tiki Room, dig into a candy bowl or pull out your Chinese left overs, then you probably won't see why these sexy costumes are so utterly silly. But if you're a normal person, you'll probably get a kick out of The Society Page's annual list of "Sexy What" costumes -like this Sexy Parrot costume.

James Earl Jones Reads The Raven

(YouTube Link)

The guy who gave Darth Vader his voice reads Edgar Allen Poe's classic poem The Raven, and his booming baritone has ruined all further readings of the poem forevermore.

When James Earl Jones reads something, it stays read!

Atreyu Riding Falkor Costume

Atreyu riding Falkor

Laura Kenora rode Falkor the luckdragon this Halloween, just as Atreyu did in The Neverending Story. Falkor is made of fence wire, newspaper, fake fur (although I suppose real luckdragon fur would do just as well) and styrofoam.

Zombie Iron Man

2

Add the best superhero (he is the best, not a typo) with the best living dead creatures and what do you get? Zombie Iron Man. So maybe it's a stretch to say Iron Man could even become a zombie, how could they bite through the suit after all, but zombies are a stretch of the imagination themselves.

Work done by Cosplay artist Kyosti Kallio and the photos are by Adam Jay. You can check out the full set of photographs here.

Custom Made Xenomorphic Skull Helmet

This terrifyingly stylish piece of headgear was created by DeviantARTist Psychopat6666, a ghoulishly good mask and costume designer from Bulgaria.

It's got the bony charm of a skull and the spaced out details of a Xenomorphic extraterrestrial, and will definitely turn heads on the Con floor.

Die Hard...With A Baby

Action stars and superheroes are all so played out, it's time to let the babies of the world show 'em all how it's done.

First stop- Die Hard recast with a much younger John McClane, chomping on candy cigarettes and shooting his bubble gun while yelling "Yippie kay yay mothertruckers!" Now that would make a good remake!

Obviously Unlicensed Costumes

Anyone who has visited a costume store around Halloween has seen these unlicensed costumes sporting ridiculously vague titles and low price tags. They're a godsend when throwing together a last minute costume, and good for a cheap laugh while browsing online costume sites.

But what's with the deceptive titles? Can't we call a Caribbean Buccaneer a Pirate of the Caribbean instead? And who do they think they're fooling with those tired old Hollywood Starlet and British Sleuth tags? That's Sherlock Holmes and Marilyn Monroe!

The Couples Costume That Ruled Halloween 2012

Moonrise Kingdom accomplished two things this year- showing the world that new movies can be great without a superhero in sight, and creating a costume craze for couples come Halloween.

Suzy Bishop and Sam Shakusky are pretty awesome characters, and their outfits are pretty darn nifty, so it's agreed- Moonrise Kingdom is a good source of inspiration for Halloween costuming!

Unintentionally Creepy Vintage Halloween Photos

The folks who took these pictures didn't intend them to come off as creepy or unnerving, but that doesn't change the fact that there's something strange about them that gives us the willies.

And unintentionally creepy is the best kind of creepy, right?

Halloween Themed Missed Connections On Craigslist

The Craigslist personal ad section called Missed Connections is a good place to find a cheap laugh, as you wonder at the sort of nutjob who would write such ridiculous ads in the hopes of finding love.

But Missed Connections is never so colorful as it is around Halloween, when Liza Minelli seeks the Silver Surfer and Skeleton Guy goes Looking For Sarah. It's a comedy and tragedy all rolled into one sad Craigslist personal ad after another!

Where The Wild Pumpkins Are

Quirk Books, the geniuses who brought you Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, made this fantastic literary pumpkin this Halloween, based on the creatures seen in Where the Wild Things Are. It sure makes my jack-o-lantern look pale in comparison.
