William Shatner Plays Edgar Allen Poe

(YouTube Link)

Way back in that golden year known as 1983 William Shatner played the prince of poetic darkness Edgar Allen Poe in a retro TV gem called The Magical Musical Halloween Show.

Audience reactions ranged from "hmmmm" to "oh dear god make it stop!" with a few "his words doth speaketh to mine soul" in between, and if you ask me it was too terrifying to watch in its entirety so try to sit through it all...if you dare!

A Bloodthirsty Jack-O-Lantern

If you encounter a pumpkin that looks like this bloodthirsty little bugger while trick-or-treating do yourself a favor and move on to the next house!

The frightfully sharp fang details make him look like he might take a bite out of you if you get too close, and the beady black eyes add a touch of living detail to this inhuman eating machine that says stay away! *shiver*

Nickelodeon's Lost Halloween Film Cry Baby Lane

(YouTube Link)

Cry Baby Lane is a lost teenie horror film that was supposed to premiere on Nickelodeon in October, 2000 but was pulled from broadcast due to parental protest.

The story involves conjoined twins imprisoned by their father, and the teens that summon their spirits back from the dead to haunt the town, and even though it was supposed to air a mere twelve years ago it seems rather tame by today's standards.

Here, in all its made-for-television splendor, is the full length version of Cry Baby Lane so you can see what you've been missing!

The Screwed Up Screwdriver

It might not be the prettiest Halloween cocktail, but Halloween isn't meant to be pretty anyway. So how do youmake one of these creepy concoctions? Just add black food coloring to vodka and then pour it over orange juice -for an even better orange color, fresh squeezed would be great0 Alternatively, blood orange juice would make a wonderful-looking drink.

Retro Halloween - Disgusting Disguises By Topps

The Topps card company, makers of fine baseball cards and collectible card series such as the Garbage Pail Kids, released a Halloween themed series wax pack in 1967 called Disgusting Disguises.

Each pack came with 24 gruesome cut outs (masks and accessories) and some skin stickers, so kids wouldn't have to go trick-or-treating without a costume.

While these paper disguises may not have been the best choice of costume, they made for a fun kids collectible and now they're a unique retro artifact!

Muppets Infected With The Zombie Virus

It's with a deep sense of sadness that I must report the untimely death, and zombified rebirth, of our beloved Muppets.

Turns out fleece puppets aren't immune to the zombie virus after all, and their thirst for human blood is insatiable because they don't have any guts!

Illustrator John Defreest has given us a glimpse of the undead Muppets, and the Muppet Show will never be the same again...*sigh*

Halloween Bearding Done Right - Male Edition

A beard is often used with Halloween costumes as a whimsical accessory, or to help complete the character costume you've decided to sport.

But if you're going to use a beard with your costume make sure you're doing it right, or else you may end up looking like some weirdo who glued a wad of hair to his face!

Photo: luf sugarskull/Flickr

Check out the guy in pic 1- he's grown a natural beard out to complement his bearded lady costume. Not a bad move, but you may be growing that sucker out for months and it will itch like mad!

Photo: Kim Scarborough/Flickr

Pic 2 has the same costume idea going on, but he's using a fake beard which is easy to remove when you get hot under the collar. As long as it stays on all night you've completed your costume and you can stay clean shaven. Yay facial comfort!

Photo: zoomar/Flickr

The guy in pic 3 has created a crazy custom monkey beard, which is almost a costume in itself and is sure to make you a hit at any Halloween function. Oh monkey beard, you complete me...

Have A Sexy Little Halloween

Many gals choose to play it safe and wear a sexy costume on Halloween, but you can only wear a sexy nurse or sexy cop or sexy cheerleader costume so many times before it begins defining who you are.

Now, thanks to illustrator Jillian Tamaki, you have more sexy costumes to choose from, like the always popular sexy Hungry- Man dinner or the intellectually sexy first edition of The Old Man And The Sea.

Keep it fresh this year, and leave the same old sexy costume gathering dust in the back of your closet!
