A Paramedic with a Jet Suit Could Fly to Emergencies

This new emergency service in Wales offers another way to quickly reach people in need of immediate medical attention. The Great North Air Ambulance Service, in addition to operating helicopters, now has a jet suit and paramedics trained in its use.

The paramedics use a Gravity Industries jet suit which can travel up to 85 MPH for a total flight time of 5 to 10 minutes. That's not a lot of time, but in a demonstration a few months ago, the paramedic covered what would have been a 25-minute hike in just 90 seconds of flight.

The private company hopes that this new technology will allow it to provide faster medical services to the 15 million people who visit the Lake District ever year.
