Amazing Model Train Diorama Pops up out of a Coffee Table

Peter Waldraff's N gauge scale model railroad diorama is a masterpiece of precision craftsmanship, electrical engineering, furniture making, and creative problem solving. The result of his inventing and labors is a tabletop that converts into a three-season display of a train moving through the mountains.

And Waldraff isn't done yet! He plans to make the device WiFi-enabled so that he can control it from a phone. That will make demonstrations even more amazing.

My God. That's simply astounding. I'm always amazed at what people do with their spare time, the things that they create and then assume have no value to anyone but themselves. These are beautiful works of art. I'm so very glad that his son is allowing us to see them. Makes me wish that I could see what other garage artists are making, what kind of amazing talent there is out there.

one thing about these hobbies is that you house get filled up with the same type of art really soon. It will be boring instead of special. But i guess you can use it to pick up a few thousand $ for that big piece of homemade art.
