Disney World’s Putting Virtual Face Masks Over Maskless Visitors

In order to keep people safe from each other, masks are required at all times at Walt Disney theme parks in Florida. However, this protocol doesn’t seem to be strictly implemented in the parks, and so there are still some who manage to get inside these places without wearing one. Disney is trying to address this health concern, but not on the way that you’d expect.

… Disney is reportedly taking an eccentric approach to mask enforcement: editing a digital mask onto visitors’ faces in photos. The bizarre practice, first spotted on social media by industry blog Walt Disney World News Today, has left guests confused about why the park is doing something about masks but not actually enforcing them.
[...]
WDWNT suggests that the digital masks are being added to remind guests that they are in fact supposed to keep their masks on.

A Twitter user commented that this is a waste of time and programming. Another asked if this was even necessary.

What are your thoughts about this one?

"this protocol doesn’t seem to be strictly implemented in the parks"Total BS. I was recently dragged to DisneyWorld by family and they have a small army who will scream at you if you drop your mask for a minute.

You are assuming people aren't taking them off ON the ride. I'm assuming that's where they ARE taking them off. I'm also guessing Disney is digitally adding the masks to not let riders get rewarded for ignoring park the suggestion.

If masks are required to be worn all the time, then why are people allowed on rides without wearing one? Don't make a rule if you are not going to enforce it. With Disney putting masks on people it makes it more fun not to wear a mask, right?

I get it, but also it won't make a difference. Since this whole thing started, a lot of money and effort has went into pandemic shaming. Don't get me wrong, I always wear masks and do the social distancing. There's a lot of people out there where information just doesn't penetrate. People are still going out to bars and restaurants where i live, and they're getting covid like crazy. Be the best "you" you can be, and I wouldn't stay up at night worrying about people who don't wear masks. I mean unless you want to round everyone up with nets and pitchforks, but that's probably illegal.
