Why Stop Signs Have Eight Sides



Traffic signs come in all sizes, shapes, and colors, but there is some standardization, which has to do with how important the message is. The STOP sign is the only one that has a octagonal shape, which was standardized in the United States 1923. They are also red, which was standardized only in the 1950s.
