This graph has 168 stripes, each representing an average global temperature for the years from 1850 to 2018. Climate scientist Ed Hawkins created a generator called Show Your Stripes that gives you a graph of stripes showing average annual temperatures, going back as far as the available data allows. There's no real need for numbers, as we are used to colors representing temperatures. You can customize a graph for your country, or your US state. As you can see below, the change is not so striking for Kentucky (shown) and other inland states, but it's pretty dramatic for places like Florida.
