How a Manhole Cover Became the Fastest Manmade Object Ever

Half as Interesting tries to answer the question, "What is the fastest manmade object?" As you can figure, first they have to clarify the parameters of the question, defining the terms and such. But that leads us to a truly bizarre story of an experiment that is still somewhat classified. I really want to know if we have a 1957 manhole cover orbiting the earth, or possibly some other heavenly body.

As the creator of the Para-Cycle concept, to my knowlege we preceeded the Fresh Breese Flyke by some 2 or 3 years. Our debut was in Oshkosh Wi. 1997. We won the "innovation award". We did experiment with two diffrent street power systems. One was a 49 cc motor and the other a "revolutionary-for-it's-time" electric drive unit.
Alass, we ran out of money before we could sell enough of them to make a viable business out of it. It seems like there are millions of people willing to spend $5,000.00 dollars for a personal aviaition device that litteraly costs almost $10,000.00 (to properly manufacture). So I say "go for it" if YOU can do that.

If you want to see something currently hapening that's REALLY cool, go here; http://www.jet-man.com/actuel.html
